I can't say........ The cathedral needs lighting doesn't it? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D 12 volt ...... that is S/steel Led decking lights Front and back Not easy to photograph in a darkened room Don't yet know how to hook up the stereo to the lights ....... yet But I had thought of it ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Starting to look more like a den on iniquity than a place of prayer The wife reckons I should call the van ...... "The Antichrist" Hmmmmm ......... To quote PM Rudd to the Aboriginal leaders asking for Australia day to be changed to another date...... Respectfully I reply................NO! ;D ;D ;D Cheers Atog

Cool Now you've inspired me. Would love a few of those in our van at low level to sneak up and down the van during the night without having to find a torch or worst still waking up the little one during her snoozin'. Might save a few bruised toes also Darn table legs in the middle of the night.....the pain the pain Keelz

Hi Atog, Those lights are so cool . I am impressed with both the rosewood seat ends and the lights. Great work. Just a thought. Would you be able to extend the 12V wiring in the Left hand seat cupboard to fit one of those lights on the outside of the van under the door entry to shine down on to the pull out steel step at night. Would save turning on the outside awning light to advertise to the world that you are going to a visit to the bushes. Just a thought? ;D ;D ;D Cheers, techron

Just a thought. Would you be able to extend the 12V wiring in the Left hand seat cupboard to fit one of those lights on the outside of the van under the door entry to shine down on to the pull out steel step at night. Cheers, techron Seems great minds think alike Have already run a wire to power two led lights that will sit in the left hand side of the entrance.... (the new bit I just put in) Had thought of putting blue lights under the van all around ;D ;D ;D ;D But the logistics of getting under the floor was too difficult Reckon it would have looked real groovy with a blue glow coming from under the van at night... "Help mum there's aliens in the van park I've seen their spaceship !!!!!!!" That or "Dude .. who pimped your crib?" So two white LED's the same as the inside will go in the left hand side of the entrance instead. They will be connected to the entrance light so as to light up the inside after the step and outside at the same time. The neighbours will just have to get use to seeing me stumble out of the van for a snakes hiss ;D ;D Once you start running 12 volt wiring and it works ..... it becomes addictive. Where else can I put lights.... in the pantry and wardrobe... under the van.... under the awning.... etc. etc... Had to stop somewhere If I were to do it again The lighting would be strip lighting up under the lip of the beds and lounge... The LED's that are in now are enough to throw a soft light that lets you see without having too much in the middle of the night Cheers Atog

atog I like the thought of a blue glow emanating from under neath at night. sure would make it easier to find the van after dark. After all it is only 12 volt wiring...... ;D the lights down low inside would make my better half happier, I wouldn't wake her I would stop bumping into furnture and tripping over my shoes...

Hey Bobt The blue strip lights aren't hard to fit..... eeerr So I'm told They are used in pimping cars up You are right that being 12 volt it doesn't draw much amperage Starting to convince myself again ...... Your van would look great with blue or even alternating lights underneath.... Convince your missus and we'll all have a go ;D ;D ;D ;D Not only would we be Classic Caravaners... we'd be part of the blue rinse light ....... blue something brigade.... as well ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Atog Getting C Cers in trouble with their ball and chain ;D ;D

Hook the lights up to a boom box and make it pulse to the music.... Would keep the neighbours entertained Speaking of lighting Fitted and hooked up the lights for the step yesterday This is what you would be confronted with approaching the van now Hmmmmm perhaps a little to much with the exterior light.... Still..... Could fry wombats at fifty paces if needed Do we have killer wombats? Or as the American asked ... "Are Wallabies anything like Killer Bees?" Cheers Atog

Hi atog, Love the lights in the entry area, saves tripping on the step and falling into the van, accidentally I mean. The exterior light certainly seems bright enough. I suppose that if you set up the van with that side towards the Ablution Block you wouldn't need a torch to see your way there at night and you certainly wouldn't need one to find your way back. Just jealous! Cheers techron PS: I can afford to post wry comments now I have learnt to post photos?

Hey Techron PS: I can afford to post wry comments now I have learnt to post photos? Is that a question or a statement? Onya Atog ya smart..seWasn't too sure if the lights would cast enough light onto the step itself ..... but they do Can't really see it in the photo but they work just fine When I originally bought the S/steel decking lights the salesman showed me an alternative to my exterior LED It is an LED that changes colours constantly (about five colours) Thought it might be a great thing to tick off other caravan park residents ;D ;D ;D Not that I'd do somthing like that But at $105 it stayed with them That and the fact that it couldn't be held at one colour Cheers Atog

What's the last thing you would be doing to your caravan in extremely wet weather - when it isn't under cover? Hatch Hinges... ;D ;D Not one to let the weather dictate what I'm doing.... Not that bright are you lad?Well here they are After the best parts of three days and still more to go The Stainless steel hinges have been assembled and installed Here's what was there before and after Was very sick of seeing the old ratty looking steel hinges and now am reasonably happy with the new improved ones Ok ....... I am very happy with the results considering - had never tried this type of thing before One slight hiccup.... Made two right hand hinges for the front..... now have to adjust and have one welded up so it fits the left The tag at the front of the hinge (above and below photos) catches the hinge arm so the hatch stays up The weight of the hatch keeps it in place Capt Intelligence here made two right hand So next week it is off to a bloke I know that can weld stainless to shift the tab to the other side. Now I can look up at the hatch without feeling despair ;D ;D Cheers Atog Stainless steel X spurt

Hi Atog Looks good. I would never have thought of putting the backing up as high as you have. But...... the more I think about it the more I think it is a good idea. Head rest, handy protection when wife is trying to bang my head against the wall after I have provided some polite suggestions on how to do some thing... ;D ;D bobt

Thanks guys Not sure of the colour ...... does look a lot like mission brown doesn't it Missus is the interior designer for this van and with the other bits it looks OK With all the white inside it was beginning to look a little too pale So it will have some colour with cushions behind instead of foam If the colour is too drab... will find something to brighten it up ;D ;D ;D The seat cover has a very fine pattern like leather on it Wasn't the original choice but they were out of what we wanted.... Will be different cushions to these but a similar colour Where the insulation is showing it will also be brown vinyl Cheers Atog

Gidday All Spent part of today contact gluing vinyl to the old fibreglass covers for the corners Had to chisel/grind the wood and resin off the back of each piece Dropped the chisel and before it hit the concrete stuck my foot out to catch it as I always do when wearing steel caps..... Guess what.... Yep... Was wearing thongs The second thing I thought ;D ;D ..... was .... gunna have to sharpen that chisel..... didn't sink in as far as it should have Anyway after removing the chisel and blood Removed the wood and resin from the back of the fibreglass Ground up the shiny side Then contact glued the 12mm foam to the fibreglass Then the vinyl to the foam and back..... D@mn that takes some glue Used up almost a litre on the two front pieces When at the rubber shop..... Leave that one alone Atog it's just too easyFound a rubber mat that was going for half price cause it was damaged It was approx 700 x 600 not including the yellow border all around Having seen one of the forum members on V V use vinyl checkerplate for his flooring ...... thought this might work Had to cut it up and grind away some of the underside to make it fit After about two hours got to the stage you see Will fit it properly when the flooring goes in Should do the job Won't miss the step edge at night ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Cheers Atog

atog, with all that vinyl and rubber, are you sure you're just revamping an Olympic van, or are you making some kind of travelling bordello?? Love the rubber entrance mat. A bloke will be able to come home from a hard day's work in the mud, and scrape his work boots on the mat before he steps into the inner van. And when "she" catches him doing it and gives him a good whack around the ears, all that vinyl foam will cushion him when he's bouncing around the walls! ;D ;D Well thought out, atog!! cheers, Al.

Hey Everyone If you haven't read the waffle on the vinyl thread this is a shortened version of it Fitted the vinyl flooring today and am waiting for the glue to go off currently Looks good to my way of thinking The vinyl even goes under the cupboard between the two singles EErrrr the cupboard that is yet to be made Cut the vinyl hole with a hole saw.... Missed the bolt where it was supposed to go So had to butcher the vinyl.... Such is life It won't be seen when the cupboard is made and fitted The wiring is for the indicators, brakes and clearance lights All the edges around the beds and lounge will have a rosewood skirting board of sorts fitted over them. So no edge of the vinyl will be seen. Cheers Atog

Hey Guys Finished off the evening with a little edging on the flooring Thought you might like to see how quick and easy it is to do All you need is Tape, the right coloured caulking compound and a rounded end on a piece of dowel... In this case I had this metal punch handy Tape up the area to be caulked with a painters tape. It doesn't stick to the flooring or timber as much as normal masking tape So it is easier to remove Run the caulking into the gap left and then using the dowel, smooth it in so there are no marks on the face of it Remove the tape as soon as possible after it has been done Don't wait till it dries Voila Instant edging of the right colour ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D The caulking compound and tape cost $10 And for this van took an hour and a half to do May put rosewood skirting board over it later but this will do for the moment Cheers Atog
