Well, may as well spill the beans... I have purchased a 1966 Viscount Ambassador 20' from a Vintage Caravan forum member, Stephen (Stephen&Julie). Some of you may know him, he just purchased the Viscount with fibreglass ends. This is very exciting, but bitter sweet as the Millard will need to be sold Being the first van, we cant help but feel attached to it, but cant keep both. So the next steps will be for me to pick it up, which is a bit of a drive... Kempsey NSW. So Hobart to Kempsey, will be a bit of a trip. My old man (Gitano) will be joining me in the trip there to keep me company. We will leave 16th Aug from Devonport and come back on the 24th. Biggest bugbear of mine is the Spirit of Tasmania boat... can you believe there is no booking for caravans available for 3 months!!!!!! This means November is the earliest, so I have placed my name on the waiting list. Luckily my brother lives in Melb, so he can look after the van until such time I can get it. I do have a waiting list register for the 24th, so fingers crossed something comes through. Anyway, so photos taken by Stephen as an intro, more to come of course in due time Thanks Stephen for being patient with the sale process.

Its got a ding in the front, something ill attend to when its here, but aside from, for the age it is good. If i can get it to the same condition as the millard ill be happy. Of course i wont aim as high as you mate, that level of perfection is only for the elite few Yes, not sure what the deal is, especially given its winter too so not peak season!

I am looking forward to the trip, I suffer from itchy feet. The new project will keep you out of trouble, then again you have to be good with the "finance minister"

It may be worth checking out Toll to Burnie.
They just delivered a van to Hobart for "Mel" on the VV forum, I don't know the price?
Just love the look of your van, the look is nicely balanced (sorry very biased) Cheers Brent

Well, in the final stages of prepping the trip, my mechanic has told me that the turbo on my Discovery is cactus. Need another turbo, luckily a good friend of mine is willing to lend me his one for the trip. Just as well I decided to get it checked as it gave me no indication of failure...

Just logged on for the first time in a couple of weeks, so missed all the excitement so far! Looks like a great van and a real adventure to get it. At least you'll have somewhere to sleep at night. If you end up in Melbourne for an evening before shooting back to Tas, let us know and I'll come meet you for a beer.

Hi again - Mustand, yes I got the call part way up to Kempsey, so about 5 days early! I was very happy. As for changing, there is work to be done inside so I will add a bathroom (remember the original reason why I wanted a larger van? Thanks myarrow. OK, I got a vid coming soon, ill post the link on this thread as soon as its up on youtube. Its a bit long so apologies for that. Also, I bought 15 tubes of butyl mastic ready for the sealing to commence next weekend (weather permitting). Also, I would like to say now that all the work that I will be doing on the van is known, in other words, Stephen was upfront with what was needed to be done and the price reflected this. So in no way do I blame him for the work I decide to do here, but just doing this anyway as I would for any van I purchased (remembering these are oldies). Introduction video below:
