Left Adelaide this morning, made it to Narrandera in NSW for dinner. Not a bad day considering our 3 month old feeds every 2 hours.
Door came open on the freeway not far from home, door catch wasn't getting enough bite on the strike plate. Ripped a few rivets out but I had it all fixed up (and staying shut) pretty quick...
Hit a bird - well thought I'd just missed one until I hopped out. It's put a ding in the rounded front!
Everything else went ok, triton used 16L/100km (17.6MPG) doing a solid GPS 100kph on the cruise control. Not bad all considering!
Off to Canberra in the morning

She's been faster than 100! I've always wanted to go out to lake gardener and have a crack at a land speed record. The thing is choosing which record to have a go at. Turns out the land speed record with a caravan is only 142mph youtu.be/_E0LYU0AYG8

lol - the HP required is incredible... and the truck has a slight overfueling issues I however, prefer a slower ride through the country, something like this www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSMH1tniy20

Hi Sean.
Hope your trip is going well in the Franklin. Mate, did you have a ratio that you went by when thinning down your Solagard for spraying ?
I gave the van a wet rub down with those sanding blocks that you used. Worked a treat (medium grit). Most of the paint stayed on, except for the front and rear (near the top), which had caked on moss etc ......
Will give it a wash down with sugar soap, then I'm set to go.
We will be away for next week, but I'm hoping to get spraying when I get back before I go back to work
Pete

Everything else went ok, triton used 16L/100km (17.6MPG) doing a solid GPS 100kph on the cruise control. Not bad all considering! Off to Canberra in the morning When i picked up my Arrow it had an eye for the long hook at the left side of the door, as well as the right hand side to keep door/ unlocked top part- to reveal fly screen, open. I just throw on a bit of gaffer with it securing the suicide door set up,when in travel mode, then unscrew this fitting from the side as the temptation for clowns or hoons to latch me captive inside is a worry! My 75 has some flex, so i have noticed when just parked on a camber curb it has a very different catch to strike ratio- so i just set the door lock up for van leveled as a base. I replaced the old radial ply tyres with light truck 13" on the caravan purchase pick up return run. Nearly 4000klm later much at 10-110klph highway use, no issues. Mine hides behind a tall white box tug so the slip stream helps a lot.

Well the baby and dog both travelled well so we extended our trip a little. From Canberra we went across to Batemans Bay then followed the coast to Lakes Entrance. Had 3" of rain one night that found a new leak in the back window and got the bedding wet. A night at Orbost caravan park sorted out the wet bedding in the dryer and ran up their power bill a bit running the aircon and fan heater to dry the mattress before bed.
In all fuel economy evened out at about 14L/100 when travelling at an indicated speed of 95kph (closer to 90kph in actual speed). That was on the cruise control and not backing off for hills (of which we went through many between Wagga Wagga and Orbost)
With this trip going as well as it has we will definitely be spending the money on doing the interior and replacing the fridge. Considering blanking the back window off and fitting an air conditioner. Everyone seems to struggle with leaks in these back windows!

What is the sealant for your windows? Are you sure it isnt leaking through the pop rivets that hold the window slide lock in place? My old mans was leaking heaps through a rivet, a bit of sika on the rivet and no more leaks.

Sean, mine did the same thing - the water was actually coming in from the roof seam at the back of the van above the back window, not from the window itself although that's where it looks like it comes in from. 2 coats of sealant along the seam fixed it.

In mine the leaks on the front RHS window come from the roof seam and on the LHS from the pop rivets in the window locks. The roof now is fully sealed with Sika and 3 coats of paint on the seams. It is dry now.

It is dry now. I would recommend this to any renovator . Before you fill the walls back in, move the van into the real world & hose it down, so easy t detect leaks & fix them.

Still checking in occasionally :-)
The van is good, parked up in the back yard under the caravan cover that Aldi had on special a few weeks ago.
Next trip will be after winter but it's all set up as a guest room if needed. Our "guest" room became our daughters room when she was born.
Been doing the odd repair on other peoples vans, not as much fun doing it for other people! I now have a completely rational hatred of the windup system used on Jayco camper trailers...
Friend of mine just bought an old Viscount so I might be back stripping concrete mastic again soon.
