Well I have finally got my head around the Flickr account and uploaded our new van reno. It's very sturdy and reasonably straight. I had the chassis sand blasted and sprayed with a 2 pac rust proof paint. Here are a few pics: IMG20180806081443 by Steve Turner, on Flickr As it was when we first saw it IMG20180806081152 by Steve Turner, on Flickr IMG20180806081209 by Steve Turner, on Flickr IMG20180806081504 by Steve Turner, on Flickr Drawbar is strong and in good condition IMG20180806081529 by Steve Turner, on Flickr The wiring is a mess. Why didn't the manufacturers use colour-coded wiring? Nice start! Nothing better than making it nice and leak free straight up. 👍
Draw bar is interesting - mine is very similar - made from thick C section, but yours is boxed in as well to make it even stronger. Quite like that idea - not sure if that is original or not, but nice. 👍

We aren't connecting gas, so will be removing those steel uprights that held the bottles on. Instead, we are putting a tool box in it's place. I will post a few more pics to show where I am at.

Hey Bogwart,
Good to see another of these girls being saved. Have one in my yard as well probably next summers project. Might try and do this one with the skin on, however, with the way they are framed it will involve a bit of stuffing around. i see a few interior panels on yours need replacing so I'll watch with interest especially the ceiling sheets as currently mine has no interior sheeting at all.
R.E the wiring. most of the twelve volt system is done with what looks like heavy duty speaker wire and your right it's all the same color. Mr Viscount couldn't make life to easy for guys like us now could he? most of the 240 volt wiring will be ok but double check all connections, switches or areas it's been exposed to UV for signs of insulation break down or green corrosion. if there is a fair bit of it i would recommend replace with new stuff.
cheers

The interior sheet have all been replaced sometime in it's life, so removing them won't be all that difficult. They used a small quad to hide the joins and the corners. Because I will be painting the inside the quads will be invisible. I am not reconecting the 12volt system. I will be leaving the wiring intact just in case the person who eventually buys it wants the 12 volt reinstated. I only like 12 volt when it has a battery system. The 240 volt wiring seems to be in good shape. As a side line, ALL 240 wiring should be rewired with a product called "Flex Wire" which is extension cord orange wire. The solid wire can snap with movement. I am also replacing all the power points with new "Double Pole" points and putting in a safety switch for the mains.

Re hosting images, I'm using Imagur, not brilliant but loads OK in non peak. I have found Flickr in peak times to be unusable. Also now I copy images from my phone to a folder on the computer & then load from there.
