Now we are back from the Birdsville Bash, there are only a few sleeps before we pick up the Walden. Time will be the essence to get it registered before the 60th Sunliner Birthday meet at Tuncurry. The new tail lights have arrived from the USA. Stay tuned.

Here Tis, "Sunliner by Waldens" 14' 6" (one of 4 known) We had to wrap it for the 520km journey home, (no door catch, back windows cracked) The ex owner Rod has his hands full, so he decided to keep his 16' Sunliner & let the Walden go. The van is so light at the moment you can pick up the front one hand, towed amazingly well. One day it will be a rose again. Work so far includes body off, chassis reno, new drawbar, electric brakes, floor replaced, water tank, the cupboards are fiberglass so they are OK, bed frames made, center drawers, kitchen cabinetry, curtains made by the owners lovely wife. I was hopeful to get it registered for the Sunliner 60th Anniversary, but I doubt that will happen, so many little jobs to do, I know better than to set deadlines.

Looks good.
I cannot see any reason why you could not take it to the 60th. After all the 60th is a one off and will not happen again.
Just buy some extra cling wrap so you can wrap it each time you move.

What a difference a day makes, Oh my aching arms, 6x hours de- mossing. Immediate jobs are the door (sad) & the hatch, the hatch is all there but needs reglassing & woodwork re-making, not difficult just time.

Ooh ok I thought Vincent was gone. Little vans sell easily for silly money, comfortable slightly larger vans like Vincent take time!! Beats me when you look in a caravan yard, $20K just buys wet, rusty, sodden junk, you can buy a fully renovated classic for $15K. Caravan parks mostly have clean & good facilities, but high on the question list is "does it have a shower & toilet" ??

Looks very nice glad to see the difficult job of chassis is already done it wouldn't have been an easy job to get it out from under van. If you get it half as good as you got vincent it would be a show winner but if I was to lay a bet on it I would say you will have it as good 100%. We have the same size van as Vincent may shorter by 2 or 3 inches to put a shower and toilet inside as it was debated before the interior was put back in would make it a two birth for full size adults and maybe two small kids with the dinning table dropping to the bench seat and make the inside feel closed in. 20 plus foot vans not a problem. You will sell Vincent but if your luck is as good as mine it will be when you have decided to use it on a van run.

Spent the weekend on the door, like the Kennedy we had, these doors are difficult at best (curved top & bottom & side to side) I had to remove existing shelves to get to where the newish hinges had been located temporarily with self tappers. Now with 3x each 3/16 S/S metal threads in each backing plate, the hinges are solid. (more tidying up to do as the door will have to be removed, again & again. I will have to build an internal frame around the top to reduce the gaps, then closed cell foam tape should take care of the weather & drafts.

Having the chassis work completed is a good start.
The more unique/special something is the harder to sell.

To keep my self interested I have decided this reno to mix up the jobs. The hatch is next, I have saved the wooden frame by blocking & screwing, the top will receive a new layer of glass, it was near breaking up.

That is one large hatch. I was thinking to myself I I was doing your van for myself two days a week off from work I would take me at least twelve months and nowhere near the finish you put into it. I am just about to do some fiberglass work on the boat if I get time Oct 15 is booked to go away boat is alright to use as is But I have noticed when the do repair work on fiberglass truck parts and trailers they reinforce from behind for joins and large cracks lucky for me the boat only has gel-coat cracks from the sun and I have to redo the section I started years ago for the windscreen.

Hatch is progressing with repairs, soon to receive a complete outer glass. But for now I have found Flickr troublesome so here is a pair of before & after images from Imgur. Yes some people actually do this work? The Postman bought some goodies:

The hatch is receiving a new outer layer of chopped strand it was so severely pocked I didn't want to grind the top layer too much. So it may require a second layer? It will be coated with "flowcoat" The top of the hatch is now quite good awaiting a prep coat, this is before!Inner door, is filled & sanded, waiting to be painted.
