Nice van - exacly the same as mine by the look of it - same year as well. Any more pics of the inside - kitchen, rear bed layout, etc? Always interested in seeing how others have theirs set up. Cheers - Snoops.

Hi Snoops.
i will post some more inside pics soon.
ive always loved this set in the Arrow ( we had the same layout as kids growing up). Plan on keeping it original as possible, except for a few 12 volt add ons for phone charging etc.
Main concern is sorting out the rot at the front and the rear frames.

Has been a busy day ! Replaced the rear side marker lights. Re connected all the rear wiring. Got the rears working again, had to sort out the earthing dramas, and made a start on the panelling. I was actually quite surprised how easy it was to cut the ply. I flipped it over over and cut from upside down......

I ask because I'm faced with the same delimma?

Hi Mustang.
i have just emailed a pic to Caravans Plus, hoping that they can suggest something for the top of the ply.
They do list a few different flexible extrusions for around cupboards etc, which may suit
i'll keep you posted

Cool. That may be an option. I'm sure we can come up with an answer.....

Hi Mustang. Got the trim sorted out. Flexible plastic extrusion from the local timber yard in Geelong. Also has the corner type too, if needed. About $3.80 for a 2.4m length. Can be stained or painted too, but it's the same colour as the window frames so it matches perfectly.... Will redo the other sections in the bedroom area too, so it all matches up. Have been able to keep the vertical Gold Trim visible too

Looks the goods. Once the bed is in & the curtains rehung, it all fades into obscurity. The point is it stable & waterproof & the slightly different colour of ply dosn't really matter.(IMO) If asked..." arr mate its the extra heavy duty, side covers, they only came in the supreme deluxe models by special order"

Ha ha, like it. Franklin Arrow 'Deluxe'. I agree, the different colour ply doesn't really matter

Hi myarrow1, just been following your thread. I have a tandem axel franklin with similar issues to yours, leaking in all corners. Will follow with interest to see further works. I pulled the whole rear out of mine on the weekend. It has been in the family since I was 4, now 42!! Wanting to do the resto works to allow my kids to have the memories of the holidays in it, that I remember having. I should probably register to get some tips from other Franklin experts along the way as well. Good luck with yours.

Hi albinochimp.
My folks had a Franklin Arrow 16ft with the exact layout as my van. Always had a soft spot for the Arrow. A lot of great memories. I've always liked the 70's vans.
its definitely worth signing up on this site. Plenty of help available, from various levels of expertise.
Ive learnt a heap, from the short time I've been on the site.
- noticed a small leak on the LHS between rear window and floor, so I wanna chase that down before I fit the rear ply, and risk undoing all my good work.......
(sigh), I reckon chasing water leaks is gonna be a big part of this experience, lol

Hi Andy.
i did have a quick look at their website, but I found the 3mm ply at a local timber yard. They only had 2 colours to choose from, so I opted for the lighter shade. I'm hoping the rear and front look ok when done.

Had abit of a look at the water leak in the rear window earlier. Looks like its travelling down the back of the window winder box on the RHS of the van. Can't work out how the water is getting in......Confused...... Depending on the window (most older van windows I've seen are similar in design), the glass isn't (and shouldn't) be sealed in the frame, only the frame sealed in the opening - this is the same as most windows you have in you're house (I used to build them). The rubbers will let some water through depending on the rain direction and wind, etc. the most important thing is that the drains in the bottom of the frames are clear so the water can get out again. This is the issue I had in my van. The PO siliconed up the back window completely chasing a leak - and failed, but the biggest drama was that he siliconed the drains up. I've cut the silastic out of these areas and I have no more water inside the van (the original leak they were chasing was the roof, not the window). I still get some water on the inside of the glass, but it doesn't get to anywhere it can do any damage. Cheers - Snoops.
