Do you know where it was leaking from?

Water and the associated capillary action is a real biatch! Question for you, having applied the marine grade sikaflex, did you have any problems removing the window again? I think people recommend using a mastic based sealant for this reason but I opted for the Sikaflex 291. Kind of dreading having to remove it should a window continue to leak!

Looking fresh now! In the kitchen area on the far right, in front of the bar fridge, what does that area do? mine is just covered in lino & sealed off atm, considering moving "รค fridge" there, a pain with the side vent thingy but worthwhile to gain that extra meterish in front of the side seat. Stove to be at the left side entrance makes more sence with smells etc & as the gas lines were cut & all new going in, no real biggie as to what side they are run from the LPG tank on the drawbar.

Thats going to be the wardrobe, if thats the area your talking about. I do have a question though After replacing stuff in the van im putting 12mm hard wood ply doors on but im concerned about my weight Was looking at the specs AL, put up for a 15' Franklin, 850 tare. 350 ball weight gvm, 1200gvm i will be running 14'' light truck tires What happens if i go to rego the van and im over my weight, can i do any thing to upgrade it higher, ive got another 22 doors to put on Do you recon i will go over weight by what you see in the van If some one else has some no of there 16; van that might ease my brain I have limitted net at the moment but hope its fixed up soon and ill be on regular again Regardspeter

I think that you will go over weight. I'm not sure if your concern is for Rego (which will increase the road tax) or if your concern is wether the chassis will cope.
If you have a weigh bridge close by then get it weighed before you put the doors in and after to compare the weight. The weigh bridge people can tell you the van weight as well as the ball weight.
12mm hardwood ply isn't light. Don't forget that you will be carrying water in the tank (1kg per litre)
Regards Ted

Hi Ted, Yeah im concerned about both really, what would you do for the doors then instead of the hard wood ply There is a weigh bridge here but i think i would need to buy a permit to take it there, i was hoping it would come in at about 1400 to 1500kgs Regards Peter

Hi Guys was just looking at the ball hitch on the van and found a number 40 CWT just behind where the ball goes on, this number is on the right hand side What does it mean please Went down to see about my weight issue, if i have one, and was told that if it goes over weight all i have to do is upgrade my axle and the springs to take the weight but im only allowed to go up to 2 ton so if my understanding is right, the guy said , weigh the van and what the weight is they add on 300kgs and i will be running 14'' 185, light truck tires $50.00 for weigh bridge to get a sheet of paper Also today ive pulled the front off the fridge and bare metal respray in white, came up good, will put pic up later tonight, also yvonnes busy painting inside the cupboards Regards Peter

I found out that the 40 cwt is 2032.0938176000002 kgs so that means that the hitch is rated at 2 ton, is this correct Regards Peter

Hey Peter & Ted,
My Van was regoed in VIC when I bought it and the Tare was 950kg on the sticker.
When I regoed it in ACT they gave me a GVM of 1200kg as there was no GVM on the VIC paperwork.
To be honest I do not know if that means empty with just the fridge fitted as standard equipment - with or without the full sized annex & polls - with or without the water tank full, spare wheels or what??
I have not been able to track down any original brochures yet.
Cheers, Des

Was told that the reason water was getting in is because the rubber seal on the edge of the window was broken and/or missing but after looking the the bottom corners of the window frame from the inside of the van, theres a gap of about 3mm from the cladding to the corner of the frame i have this gap on both sides of the window if it is getting passed here i dont know what to do so will be calling out for HELP Regards Peter

Peter Hi. Well all I can suggest is that you try filling the 3mm gap, all the way around, with sikaflex. If this dosnt help then take the window out, again, and clean it all up (both window and wall). Then put enough sikaflex around the frame to have a cushion of sikaflex. Then only pinch the screws till you get a 2mm cushion around between the window and wall. Then after a couple of days, when it has gone off, pinch it up a little more.
I have so-far used about six tubes of sikaflex and you cant see where its gone. I still have install the windows - probably another four tubes.
Ted
