My wife and I have just bought this gutted Millard to Reno and take our three daughters around Oz in! the girls are excited but not as excited as I am to have a new project on the go! I'm trying to find out some details on the van to help plan the Reno. can anyone tell me an approximate ATM?

Hi Myrtle Clan Welcome to the world of caravan reno. As the van is gutted I would take it to a weigh bridge. This will give you a good guide to how much you can add during your reno.
Your ATM should be on the rego papers. Travelling around Aus with a family will amount to a substantial weight, a meeting with an engineer can guide you in the right direction to your suspension/frames capabilities.

thanks Mustang. looking at the rego papers. it only states the tare weight as 1620. what would the payload be on top of this?

If you change the axles to 45mm solid & fit 6 x stud wheels with 4wd bearings & have an engineer sign off, you may add up to 500KG. I had two vans inspected & certified last year for $280.00. yeah it's in great nick outside. the previous owner added some of the modern gear you see. has all four original hubcaps! I couldn't believe that! it will be getting a fresh coat of paint but keeping it retro. hubcaps will stay!
