Howdy Andy, Talking of little Gems, The Missus reckons you have already got the biggest Gem that you are likely to get, thats in the shape of that Bonza little Grand-Daughter, ;D ;D ;D Well I had a full page of writing and photos all ready to post a couple of days back, then we had a storm and that "You-Beaut-Always-reliable-super-fast" Telstra Mob pulled the plug on me, Yes, lost the lot....again, so I'll have to re-do, all of it over again Looks like you have a good camp site, shouldn't be worried by the locals to much. ;D I'm just wondering who you payed for the camp site ?? Govt or private land ? Now we all wait to see the results of the hard yakka and a pic of the diggings, don't blame you a second if you do as I did and buy a bag or two of the gem bearing soil, much easier sitting under some shade with a tinny or three and using a pair of tweezers. Cheers kiwijim

Some great photos there guys. Do keep it up. The last one has my vote for the best. Aint nothing nicer then a grandchild. Just love being able to hand em back. yeah viscount 6116 we know where we are going.. what I call Far North. But then when ya live in way down south mexico anything over the Qld border could be considered Far.. ;D Sticking to the well worn tourist track, gotta dye the hair grey to fit in with the rest of them touristy types... ;D guys ... good luck with the prospecting and the fishing.... I think all we will be doing is taking photos and assisting the local economies by buying stuff we don't need to give to the kids and add to our out of control collections.

Well, the weather put paid to our little adventure around the South of W.A. WE had a fantastic 4 days in Albany, that was until a massive storm hit us in the wee hours of the morning, I awoke to the sound of very heavy rain and the wind was rocking the Thomson something shocking, so here we were trying to hook-up at 2.00am along with another half doz campers and vacate the Caravan Park, which, by the way was placed on a rise and very exposed to the wind . We hit the road at first light and dodging fallen trees and rubbish all over the place, we headed further West in the direction of the most South-Westerly town in the West, Augusta. There is very rich farming country between Albany and Augusta.... Just hopping back to Albany for a second, here are a couple of Pics I thought I had lost because of that black out , a couple of days back...... On to Augusta, more pics to come. Kiwijim

G'day Kiwijim and Bobt Yeah I reckon your missis is right kiwijim she is the best gem I'll ever find! ;D ;D and seriously bobt it is a lot different being able to give them back .I think some of the locals must have heard I was coming ;D I know what you mean about computers jim.I have been in the same boat where you get it all set up,go to preview it,then it freezes up and you cant go back and before you know it-its all gone :-X With regard to the fees Jim you can either pay them at Queensland dept of Mines and Energy or various businesses on the gemfields. The fossicking land is mainly private land but with a Fossicking License the Queensland govt has already negotiated with the landholder your permission to be there. More info can be found here www.dme.qld.gov.au/mines/legislation_guide.cfmWith regards to fossicking I usually go out specking where you go to likely spots and keep your eyes on the ground for that glint in the sun or more likely I'll take your advice and buy a bag of wash and sit back with a couple of cleansing ales ;D I hope the weather clears for you guys in the west and bobt hope you have a great trip when you head off! Anyway of course we want more pics Cheers Andy ;D

Howdy Andy, I was joking when I said...you shouldn't have a problem with the neighbors,..... " Snakes Alive " I see you've skinned it How did it taste on the Barbee Well, we hit Augusta just before the rain joined us once again, #@^** then it drizzled off and on for the rest of our two day stop there, Tried fishing on the second morning at the crack of dawn, "yep" you guessed right, Rain Rain Rain, no fish, got a beaut tangle in Seaweed, then lost all the line, hook and sinker. One thing on the Plus side, We were the only people in a Caravan Park capable of accommodating hundreds...... This Park fronts right onto the Blackwood River, a real nice and peaceful place, so...... we have booked a Month there for next Feb, when the heat will be on back in Perth...... It actually stopped raining for me to take this Dawn shot...... One last Pic as we head Home...... Over all ( 2750 km ) a pretty wet,Windy, and cold trip. next time we will head the right way at the right time of the Year. Cheers all.... kiwijim

G'day kiwijim, Shame about the crappy weather during your trip. Nothing worse than miserable weather when you're cooped up in a van for days on end. (It's bad enough where I am at home at the moment, with a week's worth of showers and windy weather here. Can't get anything worthwhile done around the house.) The only bright side is the lack of competition when you're looking for a site for the night. It's this time of year you get all the premium spots in the Park, ay? You just don't get the premium fish to go with it! Tell Jean I'm disappointed with her photography this trip. Not a dashboard in sight! ;D Thanks for all the photos posted. Sure makes us want to go over and see that great countryside of yours. Find me a 16ft Viscount soon! cheers, Al.

G'Day Al, Yep, darn pity about the weather, but I have been reminded of what I was saying about the Heat only a few months back. Jean has given some-one a clip under the "Ear Ole" for not posting any of her Pic's so, Here's one that she reckons came out pretty good, considering there wasn't a dash board in sight.......... After taking that photo she had to take a break, the effort was tooooo Much............. Thanks Al, remind me not to read out loud any-ones comments in future. ;D ;D ;D Cheers kiwijim ;D

O.K. Bobt, I've asked the Cheese & Spice if there was any chance she could please you, She had a quick hunt through the last effort she made, Took all of two minutes to come up with one........ Added comment...... Jean said she could probably find some more if you like. ;D ;D ;D kiwijim ;D

G'day Kiwijim and all DISCLAIMER NO SNAKES OR REPTILES WHERE HARMED ,MAIMED OR KILLED IN THE TAKING OF THIS PHOTO!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Yeah I think this one skun himself!!Thought about putting him on the barby but reckon he might have been a bit dry!! ;D Been having a look at your photos of Margaret River and Augusta and it doesnt look like its changed much at all.I remember when I lived down that way that we used to go fishing under a bridge on the Blackwood River (was near where all the Swagmans and the like used to camp) and we used to do well catching bream.Did you get any down there? See the Thomsons for sale?? Are you gunna get another classic van? You better tell your missis that I take a pretty good dash shot as well but I reckon hers are better than mine! ;D ;D Anyway I hope the weather has improved for you guys Cheers Andy

Howdy Andy, You must have scared the hell out of that snake, Jumped out of it's skin , did it ? That bridge you refer to on the Blackwood must be North of Augusta some-where, may-be on the road to Molley Island. "NuP" didn't catch a thing except a cold, "Man" was it cold and wet down in that part of the world, still we have booked a caravan site for a month next Feb, should be a lot better then, when Perth is suffering with the heat and humidity, we (hopefully) will be laying back in the shade, sipping a lemonade or two. ;D ;D Yes the Thomson will be on the market very shortly and "No" I don't have a replacement as yet, I've been checking the local Gumtree advertising and there is a good range of Classics coming up all the time but, "Boy" ya have to be like grease lightning to get hold of one here. Bobt, I knew you shouldn't have praised Jeans Pic's, here's a few more I got shoved under the Pecker......... There you are people......." Blame Bobt" ;D ;D ;D Now, " Come on Andy" Time we saw some Pic's of those great big Gems. ? ? ? cheers kiwijim ;D

OOOOO WAAAAAAAAHHHHHH Jim your missus is gunna use your guts for garters if you keep that sort of photographic evidence coming up. ;D ;D ;D ;D There's gunna be some extra hairy dice hangin from the rear view soon. No photos of that please Jim. But the outside of the windscreen view is inspirational to say the least. Keep those photos coming. Making me all sort of jealous, it is. My Olympic must think it has put down roots as it hasn't moved since October. Cheers Atog

A message from the Missis, Atog...... De-root your Caravan and get it on the road, I think I'm quiet safe showing the grand snaps of the "Dear Ones" Luckily for me Jean doesn't know the first thing about turning on the Computer, it's the Daughter I have to watch, she's a bit of a Spy and can't wait to DOB in some-one Here's an idea for you to chew over, As I have said, we've booked a van site down in Augusta for next Feb, so if you like we could book an extra one for your Olympic, You will have to hurry though, there was only half a doz sites left when we booked a couple of weeks ago ;D As I have the Thomson on the market now, I don't know what I will have by then but I will definitely have something to keep the Beer and Wine cool in. cheers kiwijim ;D ;D

Hey kiwijim. There is a possibility you could be right. ;D ;D I added the furry bit to the dash today, swmbo was complaining about the sun glare ruining her photos.. We took a little look around Lightning Ridge, keep in mind we are towing a 2000kg van behind a commondoor with about 5 inches of ground clearance. We came across this. No prizes for guessing which way we did not go.. ;D Sad to see but then it is only just a holden Ute. Wet spot We are very much drive drive drive. Have a start destination and limited time to do the things we want to do so we are seeing lots of road. One day I will retire and be able to smell the roses.. Hey viscount6116 Glad to see you have popped you head out of the hole. Are you having any luck? We are well past your spot. We have enjoyed a couple of really nice days and rather cold nights. Hopefully it will be warmer further north.
