In another thread - Al was asking about the end profile on a sail track (rope track) mounding.. It reminded me – a while ago I was asking if anyone knew where I could buy a one piece moulding combining a standard J mould and a rope track. I’ve since found the combination moulding is available.. Here’s my original rough sketch, which you may remember - plus an end profile picture of the moulding. The advantage is a cleaner, ‘neat and tidy’ look and only one set of screws. It’s a little more tricky to fit, but you can curve it down to about a 4 ft radius with a little care. The downside is it’s only available in 4.5 metre lengths, so transport/courier is a little difficult.. You wouldn't want to bend it more than once.. Cut in half becomes practical to courier. Available in Melbourne – tie it to a length of timber on a roofrack is practical if you can pick it up. Jim

I remember that ... and a very valuable moulding you have found there. Have you got the supplier details? Have you used it and any pics? Is it a little difficult to make the transition from sail track to plain finish, say on a full height van??

John K I’ll get you a contact number, and a price – and some pictures in the next couple of days. And maybe some sort of guesstimate of packing/courier..
If you wanted to pick it up, it’s in Bayswater Melbourne.. Probably a long trip for you..
It's too long to post or courier, but cut in half should be ok, if it was taped and wrapped onto a length of (say) 20 x 40 pine, to keep it straight and undamaged Just a matter of picking the right courier, I guess.
It would be quite easy to butt a 'standard' plain section up to it. You just need a bit of care in positioning the two ends and with no rough edges. Flair and smooth off the rope track end as normal.
Phil It is an aluminium extrusion – Available in white only.

I apologise for the delay in replying to this thread.
Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, the manufacturer of the combination extrusion has decided not to make or supply any more of this extrusion at the moment. I put off replying in the hope another supplier may have come along..
The existing supplies are being used on a current production van and the fella who has it wants to keep the stock he has for van production until he can find another manufacturer.
When supplies are ‘back on line’ I’ll let you know.
Jim
By the way, the extrusion mates exactly to the standard mould. It just means you'll have a butt join where it meets the end of the rope track.

Hi nicholasb, Seems these are very old threads. I would google up "extrusion" suppliers, then narrow down to your area. From the thread above this extrusion seems to be very specialised. Good Luck
