i don't have a pic to long ago but it was a fx ute that i just loved but 1 day in a moment of weakness i drove it into town to see a mate well girl really,i had painted it and done the inside the whole 10 yards,well dad found out and took it of me and sold it,i dont think i ever got over it oh well dads gone and it didn't hurt in the end

The first car I ever drove (as a Learner) was a 1958 Chevy Biscayne, dad decided it was time I had a go, on the road from Melbourne to Bendigo. Must have been about 15 at the most.....scary. Remember driving halfway to Adelaide as a sixteen year old, not game to cross the Murray bridge.

A mate and I went 1/2 shares in a 1940 Vauxhal that had a 1948 motor in it. this was back in 1966. I then went to an Austin A35.

My first car was a 1971 XA Falcon Wagon, 250 straight it was bullet proof. A friend blew a gasket on it and I traded it to a wrecker for credit on parts. It was a great car, would love another one, but they are too expensive for what they are these days.

Mine was a 1964 440 ford cortina ,4 on the tree and it blew blue smoke like all hell , it rarely started first go in the mornings ,wish i had one today ,as the shape of them are really cool,plus my mechanical knowledge is a lot more than 30 odd years ago

Ford XA Coupe was my first car. Had a mental 351 in it and an unfortunate habit of lifting the the front wheel (when it didn't have a busted engine mount). The door pillars were so badly rusted I had to have the doors tied shut from the inside, I got in and out though the windows Dukes of Hazard style! Looked like something out of Mad Max. Real classy machine that one...

the citroen was certainly a car ahead of its time. I once had a friend that owned one and he use to take delight in showing us the things he could do with the cars suspension. If I have it correct they were the first or the very earliest to produce a front wheel drive car. The 52 models are real rare these days I guess only collectors would have them now and as for the 1978 one. I don't think we had to many way down under. They were a car you either liked or hated... The owners were always passionate about them. The latest versions are about but rather rare.. My father's first car was a 1934 Singer sedan with pre selector gear box. I didn't know that until after I had rejected an offer of one. I know have "the" photo of his and would like to get my hands on one. bobt Gee's those weirdo citroen owners are everywhere. Personally I think there all a bit nuts myself FWD had been around for a few years in the old Cords hand't it ?? You talking the old Traction Avant by the sounds of it. This on is my fathers. They have torsion bar suspension and a monoque structure, that's why there's no running boards or chassis there. They were known as the ultimate "getaway" car in there time. If you wanted a getaway car you went and stole one of these first. They're slow, but outhandled/outdrove just about anything from there time ( 1930's -> 1950's ). The "D" I have a couple of on the roads. These cars were the pinnacle of design for Citroen... they have turned too nuts since poogoe took them over. The blue one will probably always be called "Bobs car", the ugly pink one was found in a shed over in bendigo, I've spent a couple of years on it to get it back on the road. It sill need painting, but I'm enjoying driving it around as a battered looking wreck at the moment (several of the panels even still have the original 50year old paint on them). These cars are all hydraulic, hydraulic clutch, hydraulic gearchange (there still a manual, but hydraulic rams do the work of operating the clutch and gearchange), hydraulic suspension, "Hull" type chassis where the body panels are just decorative items, fully powered (not power assisted) steering. High pressure brakes (the brake "pedal" is a rubber blob on the floor like a dimmer switch, it just opens a valve to allow high pressure hydraulic fluid into the brakes). They have true center point steering, you can completely loose a front wheel at speed and they still drive and brake arrow straight. Massive inboard brakes (remember this is 1955 were talking). There will never be another car like this made. Not ever This is my tired old CX .... It's that last of the 'real' Citroens before Poogoe stuffed 'em all up. This one has been used as our "towcar" for about 10years, towing car trialers, caravans.... well anything that can be connected to a towbar. Last year I bought an old Range Rover Classic to tow stuff with so I could stop using the poor old thing as a tractor. seeya, Shane L.

Well my first car was a ke20 corolla coupe. Great little car and coped some serious abuse from me for 2 years before trading it at my work for a HT Holden premier 5.0L v8 with a 2 speed auto sedan. That was the best car I ever owned. Fitted a 4 speed manual gearbox to it. Was a fast car and very comfy. I have had many cars Holdens hz v8 sigmas a Volvo 240 sedan a few minis which I loved. Commodores mostly v8 ones. I bought a mazda bt50 ute new in 2008. That's was a great vehicle and used bugger all fuel for the power it had. I also built a lotus super seven replica I raced it in tassie for 5 years and then sold it. I miss that car very much as I built the entire car myself in my single garage. My father has some Oldsmobiles a 1942 sedan. Very rare as 1942 war started and this car was an army staff car for years before being restored. 1925 tourer a 1934 sedan original now sold and a1938 olds truck that I restored now sold. He also had a 1978 olds star fire with a Buick v6 engine. Same design that Holden used in the vn commodore and onwards. Will post some pics to give you some visual pleasure tomorrow. I am a mechanic with 32 years experience so I am addicted to all things mechanical.

First car 1969 holden kingswood Fastest would be a 1981 GT spec XD factory 351 V8, closely followed by 1976 HJ Sandman panel van, full GTS trimmings with a 327 chev V8 Best car mmm thats a tuff one probably either the panelvan or a 1971 HQ holden wagon I restored years ago.

My first car was a 1967 HR Holden Sedan, i purchased it off my father for $300, it was one weeks pay from my first week of work (Concretor 1985). She had a "3 on the tree" manual gearbox and the 186 engine was bored out to a 192, a few weeks later along came a 350 holley and extractors, fosters blue metallic paint and deep dish chromies!

Well, my first car looked a bit like this, but silver and much more battered! It was a Mazda 626 I bought with my then boyfriend (now husband, we paid $500 for and was used to run our friends around in highschool mostly! But MY first car, I bought new and she was my pride and joy for 13 years. She never broke down on me, until the end of her life, but that wasn't even her own fault, and rather than fix her, I sent her to the car graveyard, as I couldn't imagine anyone else driving her. Her name was Reddy, she was a 1998 Toyota Starlet, when I said goodbye to her she had 475000 km's on the clock and had never faultered! She took me on some great journeys and we had great memories together including bringing all 3 of my kiddo's home from hospital. We only parted ways just under 2 years ago and I still miss her, but the Patrol treats me well these days

My first car was a 1981 Toyota Cressida that my dad bought for me. The first car I ever bought with my own money was the one below - an EF series 2 Ford Fairmont. I was working at an autoparts store at the time and quickly went to work putting Pacemaker extractors (heat wrapped like a pro!), a 2 1/2 mandrel bent exhaust, cold air induction kit, tinted windows, spoiler (regretted that as soon as it went on) and, of course, the sound system in the picture. The intent was to make the system look as though it could have been in standard and to hide the LPG tank behind it. How do you think I went? I wouldn't spend the money now - I reckon if cars aren't your passion they are a waste of money.

The whole thing was designed around the need to get the spare out. The subwoofer box had the curve in it to ensure access to the spare wasn't impeded. The amps could be simply lifted up to give access to the spare. The design came in handy because I did need access to the spare once.

Hi All, My first car (mind you I was only 15 yrs old at the time) was a 1954 Dodge Plymouth (by Chrysler) weighted 2 ton (not tonne). I paid $50 for it in 1974. She was a 'side valve 6' had a two speed Auto box (there was no 'P' for park in the Auto box just a huge hand brake) and 16" wheels - factory standard. She had full factory instrumentation, full factory leather interior and full factory glass tint - all round. She was so big we could fit 4 of us across each bench seat - but we were probably a bit thinner then LOL. She was still registered and I used to get an older mate to drive it for me - mainly to the 'Drive-In. We had her up to 75MPH down the end of the main street one night - scary. Wow - what memories come flooding back. My old man made me get rid of it cause he was sick of me cutting up his yard with the big 16" wheels. We only had a town block - 1/4 acre - but I could drive it around the house - at speed. Guess he had a point lol. So - I sold it back to the same bloke I bought it from about 18 mths later for $60 - a profit. Cheers, Des PS if only some one would invent a time machine LOL Similar to this one - nice light blue:

When I became old enough to drive, my Dad had a Mk1 Zephyr. His dad had a Mk1 Zephyr and his brother had a Mk1 Zephyr.....So guess what, it was decided for me that I would have a Mk1 Zephyr. I had a look around and pretty soon found a good one at a reasonable $250. At the time I was only making $16 each fortnight and I had to borrow half the money from my father. Anyway, I didn't treat that car with the respect it deserved and I ended its life by wrapping it around a tree, nearly killing myself and the girlfriend. For several decades I missed that car and always wished I'd had another. About 10 years ago, I got the chance to buy this old girl....."Purdy" She's been part of this family ever since.

My first car was ugly...I never liked it and as soon as it was paid off and the rego ran out I left it park in a side street in Sydney. My father told me to buy it, and I know why - he must have wanted me to become a priest because no girl would come near it....! It was a "69" Toyota Corona..
It had a bench seat and 4 on the column, and that must body roll you would get sea sick in a multi story car park..! Took us a week to work out how to use the blinkers because we couldn't find them !! They are part of the horn, you push the horn up or down within the steering wheel, so every other day you would accidently hit the horn while trying to indicate and have someone in front - giving you a 2 fingered salute or worst they want get out and wish to have words. It got that bad I put a switch on the dash and re wire them to it.
You never see them anywhere and I know why ....

1978 i bought a plain white, no options apart from the ciggy lighter, EH saloon 149 motor. I was told i could have it for free if i found any rust, so bought it off my workmate ( it was his Dad`s car) then off to Gulson Motors where my bro was an apprentice and after many hours on the hoist ,after hours,he declared yep you have to pay the full $250! Sadly or typically for a P plater i crashed & wrote it off 3 months later *cry* I replaced it with a 179 EH waggon ($350) and had a few happy years trecking around in that.
