Do you need a battery for dometic 3 way fridge for the igniter to work?,or does it ignite without battery conection?

Hi Mark, If your van has the original fridge it’s only 2 way,the gas is lit by either turning the piezo knob quickly until it ignites,they never had batteries. Cheers hughdeany

Hi, With my 77 Viscount I had to hold the gas on for 25 seconds, then push the Pizzo. The Pizzo is charged by a quartz crystal, repeated attempts will deplete the Pizzo, allow time for recovery.

A modern 3 way Dometic will not work without access to a 12 volt.

have just been informed by dometic,that my dometic rm2350 tropical fridge does not need 12 volt conection for spark ignition.the spark works without 12 volt conection.they said 12 volt conection is for when the car is running to operate fridge whilst travelling
