Has FB made its way into information rich forums such as Vintage Vans & Classic Caravans? I visit both forums along with others every day, at the moment there is only one reno happening at VVs (Meet Dorothy)
On the other hand the few caravan FB pages that I follow don't seem to be bursting at the seems either, the only exception being the Sunliner page.
Your thoughts? Mustang

It's a shame because posting in the forums provides so much more detail than you get on Facebook. I like following the whole journey of one van's reno in a thread, instead of snippets of it hidden among lots of posts.
Hoping to update my Franklin thread soon now that I'm back into it as of this week. Lots of tiny jobs not really worth posting about until I have something to show for them. Lots of prep work on the outside, holes to fill, rivets to replace etc. Trying for at least an hour or 2 each day. Have to go away for a week next week so that will put a crimp in my plans too.

Yep, Facebook has killed the forums. Unfortunately aided by Photobucket and their decision to charge to host pics, they hurt themselves by the way they originally went about it. It has become too hard to put pics up on forums when it is so easy on Facebook. It is a pity as people will miss out on the story.
But it is all part of the evolution. I use to help manage a Bulletin Board Service. We had 6 incoming phone lines for it, about 2500 people with logon access to it. It use to be hard to connect to it. Back in the day when we had one phone line in the house, I use to get annoyed when someone in the house wanted to ring people and I wanted to get onto a BBS. Now everyone has a mobile and I look at the internet anytime any where.
Whats next?

What Facebook can't do is keep the story somewhere that's easy to reference at a later stage. Unfortunately no one seems to care about this these days. I'll keep posting here while I have the van and I still drop back to see what's going on - which isn't much.

I agree with you, also check the two forums on most days. My feeling is that many people now use phones or tablets and that along with the ease of posting photos on FB keeps them away from the internet.
It is a pity as there is now so much information available with a bit of searching.

still around and totally agree a forum for like minded people doing anything is a better platform than facebook and photobucket only had to use advertising to pay for the free members
