Its been 18 months since we have seen our Tassy family, SO, with a deep breath we booked a passage on the Spirit of Tasmania two weeks ago. (Depart Nov/return late Feb) A week is a long time in Covid, look what's happened in the last two weeks. Today NO entry through NSW. Cameron Corner is a fair detour, if you could get that far, then there are outbreaks in Victoria. The Spirit offers full refunds if you cannot sail due to Covid, unlike some airlines. I guess this is not a bother when you listen to the news of Afghanistan, after 20 years the Taliban are back within weeks, taking Kabul as I write. Parents of Australian soldiers will be disappointed their boys lost their lives for no reason, they join parents of soldiers who have died in every useless outcome like Vietnam. Been to Bunnings lately looking for timber? Now this is a worry, can't finish several projects. Cheers

UPDATE: Travelling to Tasmania
We have left our booking open, in anticipation that borders may open. I rang the Tasmanian Covid line & they suggested if NSW & Vic., do open & you have travelled through this hotspot, you WILL NOT be able to enter Tasmania by the Spirit.
So, no Xmas with the family this year, unless we fly. Cheers

UPDATE: Travelling to Tasmania:
We have now changed our ticket to Tassy for the 7th of January, at this time I expect you will need full vaccination & a negative Covid test 72 hours prior to travel along with registration. So Tassy is still cautious & why wouldn't they be.
I vowed I would never travel a day trip again, but as there are no services open to Melb to Devonport & you may be confined to your cabin? may as well have a cheaper fare.
Details are sure to change again now that borders will be open Dec 17. Cheers Mustang

When she landed in Launceston, her temperature was taken & drivers licence checked, no other covid checks, go figure?? I have been continually checking the www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/ website, the information remains the same, I guess there will be a new update 15 Dec. 26/12/21 UPDATE: Travelling to Tasmania Well now we are down to three requirements Covid test "within 72hrs" (tricky to get results) , double vax, register for travel. Here's hoping a Rapid test will come in on the First of Jan. The Covid test has been such an impost on families at Xmas. Wet and very muggy here in SE Qld. Cheers

Now with family in St Helens, moving around with fair weather. Cheers
