Hi, I have just brought a 1977 Jaydove. Paid way too much for it and currently replacing all electrics and have serviced the breaks. Canvas is in great condition. So silver linings! Lots more I need to do to it and would love advice on where to go from here and what to watch out for.. I’m from Tassie and looking forward to getting into the camping culture for summer 2020.

Hi and welcome jaq, The main thing you MUST do is have the windup system serviced by a person that knows what he’s doing! Nothing worse than going for a holiday and wind up the camper and a cable breaks,it only ever happens when you least expect it!Also check it has light truck tyres that are no more than 6 years old, that’s the lifespan for caravan tyres that do a lot of sitting around, and practice putting on the spare wheel befor you go anywhere so you know how many blocks of wood, jacks etc you need to take with you. Hi Jaq, I am new to this forum and have also just purchased a 1977 Jayco Dove which is in need of complete renovation except for the canvas which is only 6 years old. I plan to use aluminium checker plate as in the pics of a restoration shown in "1977 Jaydove Restoration" on this forum (2013). Have stripped out the inside and plan to replace all cupboards, stove, sink and part of floor. (At least the fridge works) I am thinking of underslinging the axle to give a bit more clearance and also replace the 13" wheels with 14". Any suggestions from members would be greatly appreciated.

Hi lazzaras, Welcome to the Classic Caravan Forum. If you wish you can post your project in "The Hall of Fame" there you can post images, ask advise & tell your journey. Cheers Mustang
