Howdy Gang, I just gotta show ya all what I scored at Aldi's on Saturday morning, 9/2 First of, they had a great number of Caravanning gear on Special, some of you may have seen their Catalogue ? Well here are two items that took my fancy, they were both priced at $49.99..... If you race into Aldi straight away Bobt, You could still be in luck, Last Saturday they were going out the door like Hot cakes, went back on Monday for something else and I saw that they had restocked, they must have bought thousands of these fans, the good thing about them is you can recharge them off a 12v Cig lighter as well a 240v con via a transformer that comes with the fan, I gotta say I'm really impressed at the very low noise level, even on high speed they are very quiet. Those fans were $59.99 in the October catalogue last year, so you've saved $10 on the previous price. In November last year, one of our local stores shut down for 10 days to be refurbished. Whatever stock they couldn't offload to the other local stores, was marked down for clearance. I remember thinking I should get one of these fans when they were marked down to $20 but decided I didn't really need it. (...I could have given it to you for a 'cheap' Xmas present  )
If you go to your local Aldi store often enough, you'll start to get a feel for which Special Buys are going to end up on the Clearance table, simply by seeing how much stock is left after one week. I have four Aldi stores within 10kms radius, and the caravan covers/zappers/fans have all gone, but there are still heaps of camping chairs/awning shades/awning ground covers/wheel levellers-chocks/caravan extension leads/trailer boards. No doubt I'll see some of these items on the "Reduced table" in the weeks to come.
Just yesterday, my local store had 4 of the Workzone table saws marked down from $149 to $74.50 (half price). Too bad I already have an old table saw, but the Aldi one was a bargain for anyone thinking of doing a caravan restoration (...apparently there are people doing that sort of thing... ).

It's good news to hear there are still people doing that sort of thing LOL I had a quick gander at that website you mentioned, nothing listed from W.A. but I have been getting the odd bargain off the discounted tables in the past, One ripper buy was a Vacuum cleaner I spotted, only one left so I scored it for $70.00 usual price was $149.99, I tell you what, it's so powerful when going on full throttle it stuck to the carpet and could not be moved, made SWMBO shriek until I walked into the lounge and turned down the motor on the speed setting by almost half, It's the best Vacuum we've ever owned to far, I think I'll keep a close watch on this discount table in the future, there could be some caravan gear coming up here soon.... Aldi have re-stocked their shelves after the rush last Saturday, I went in again on Monday and the shelves were full up and hardly anyone buying anything, so could be some good stuff there in a couple of weeks time. Well, that didn't take very long at all. Just 5 days after the items went on sale, one of our local stores has already started reducing the price of some of the items... 1. Caravan waste water drainage hose, was $24.99 now $14.99... 2. Roof cargo bag, was $49.99 now $29.99... 3. Trailer light board, was $49.99 now $29.99... I bought one of these light boards. I thought they were good value at the original $49.99 compared with what you pay at other auto spares shops (usually up around $85 or more), and also compared with what you would pay for the individual lights and cable/plug. But they are now a real bargain at $29.99. I will dismantle the board and fit the lights and cable to my ratty old box trailer to give it an upgrade.  Still plenty of other caravan items left, so I expect more will be reduced in the days/weeks to come. cheers, Al.

I've just returned from another visit to Aldi, ( Thur 7th March ) I am amazed to see they still have a stack of those 12v rechargeable fans on sale, They haven't dropped the price, still hoping to flog them off at $ 49.99, and not a sign of them being reduced at this stage !!! They also have a heap of tail-light bars, and again.... no sign of reduction on the price, must be a Mob of tight fists here in the West.  K.J. |

Doesn't seem to be any 'rhyme or reason' as to when the stores start marking items down. My store just down the road still has the caravan extension leads, wheel levellers, and trailer boards at the original price, whereas the other store 4kms away had them marked down a couple of weeks ago (and they've all gone from that store now).
If the store still has stock this far after the sale date, they WILL get marked down eventually. Just keep visiting on a regular basis. Our local stores tend to mark stuff down during the week days, so it's always worth popping in during the week here.
Last Monday, there were a couple of the Waeco fridges suddenly appeared on the clearance table. Dunno where they came from, since the store had sold out of the reduced price fridges a few weeks ago. Maybe they were hidden out the back and buried under heaps of other stuff. Anyway, they were available for a couple of people to grab at $499.
I often find you just have to be lucky and "be there at the right time"...

G'day Al, "Yep" they are a funny Mob, I;ve noticed in the past they will have a stack of stuff on the shelf one day and all gone the next, then a few weeks later there it is back again, but still at the top price.
At the moment they have a heap of ceiling fans in the reduced bin, these have been there since well before xmas and still haven't sold, yet they seem to have forgotten them.
I am rather partial to the Brown Brothers Wine which comes and goes like a rocket, I'm well stocked up on the Summer wine they have, but always seem to miss out on the Red stuff, I think there must be a lot of people around who grab the lot as soon as it hits the shelf.... have to get up a bit earlier Me's think.
