G'day All, Just a heads up that Aldi have a Waeco brand 50L fridge in their catalogue for sale on Saturday 24 November. First time I've seen a brand other than their own in-house brands for camping fridges. Note that this is the CF model and not the CFX model, but $599 is still a very good price for this fridge (I paid $549 about 5 years ago for my smaller Waeco 35L CF fridge when it was on special elsewhere - my fridge hasn't missed a beat so far)... There are other camping/caravan items in the same catalogue, such as this 160W solar panel... I can't get this particular catalogue to show on the internet, but after this Saturday 17 Nov, you should be able to see it on the following site: www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/
cheers, Al.

Thanks Al
I watch for the specials... Still cannot see the ones your looking at yet.
I bought a folding solar panel off them some years ago, its still going strong... I could not get a better price. No this is not a push for Aldi. Don't know if you have ever noticed but in my area the local retailers of produce similar to Aldi often run their own specials in competition, works well for us purchasers.

I had a look at these Waeco fridges in Aldi, and read on the box that the weight of the empty fridge and cover is 20.2kgs. If you add the load into the fridge, the final weight could be anything up to 67kgs. Certainly not a lightweight fridge that can be carried around easily! I have 4 Aldi stores within 10kms of my place, and all of them have plenty of stock left after the weekend, so they are not shifting very quickly. I expect they will start to be marked down in price in a couple of weeks. They take up too much shelf space in the store to be left waiting for the odd person to buy one at the initial sale price.
In contrast, the solar panels sold like 'hot cakes' and were all gone in minutes.
cheers, Al.

Well here we are a month later and the Aldi store just down from me has three of these fridges on the "clearance table"... An old fella such as me would have a lot of difficulty carrying a loaded fridge this size, but if you were younger and beefier this reduced price is a really good one! cheers, Al.

Now is the time to buy one Al.
I have one of those fold up hand trollies, it great for moving 'heavy stuff' around, 9kg gas bottles and the like.

I went to Aldi's sale yesterday, darn near got stomped on when the door opened, I've never seen such a rush for Caravan accessories anywhere like this before, The caravan covers and shade screens were going out the door in bundles, as were many other items, after opening for only a few moments, they had sold out of the washing machine that they had for $99.99, In fact the many items were so popular that they had a Bloke at the entrance to their Store-room, all he was doing was throwing stuff out the door as people called out for it, In another post I mentioned the two thing I managed to grab, the first being a 12v -240v fan, this will be really hand in the caravan while free camping, as it has a lead with it so it can be plugged into the Cigarette lighter in the van to recharge it's internal battery, it has two speeds and also isolates if required, another good thing is, it's as quiet as anything, no trouble sleeping with this one. The other item is a 12v Fly Zapper, again it's rechargeable, although 240v only ( no worries with our Genny ) it is very effective and will give flying insects a 2000v Zap. Another thing that was on sale, was the 170W solar panels, selling for $169, these disappeared within seconds, in fact they were all gone by the time I turned around after grabbing the two items I mentioned, "Oh" I wasn't to be put off by that, two more items that struck me as a good buy was 3l containers of Toilet cleaner, and also 3l of Caravan wash, I don't know how good this stuff is as yet, Can't get SWMBO out of the house... too darn warm here !!!
