Hi guys and gals, new guy here - darren linkI just dont know where to find some information on my millard i just bought and this forum looks like the best place to point me in the right direction. Its had the drawbar replaced so theres no stamping on it. Its not registered so i need to get it registerd. I have no info on it, eg. year, vin, model, weights. Theres writing on the frame work behind where the fridge was (168-8 DS N) thats all I can find. I bought one of those generic vin plates, can i stamp info onto it and fix it to the drawbar? vin plate looking online as you do, the van looks like this one but really dont know if its a 71 model here are some photos It needs a bit of love, bit of restoration but I paid $1000 for it so its not too bad. Any Info is much appreciated, if theres any other info needed to identify eg. photos etc just let me know Many thanks - Darren

Looks like a nice starting point that's for sure. What State are you in? Not sure on other states but in Vic you can just rimg up and have a new VIN issued over the phone which you stamp into the drawbar before registration. Then you just need the year -or something close and a reciept from the PO but other states are more complicated I believe.
Based on the Chef stove and the colour of the panelling I'd have a stab at mid 70's for the year.

Makes life a bit easier then. You'll need a reciept from who you bought it off. Call Vicroads and ask them for a new VIN. Tell them the vans never been registered and you can't find the chassis number. They'll want to know a year - I think telling them 75 or 76 would be close to the mark. Once you have the VIN stamped on the drawbar, make sure all your lights are working and you may need some reflectors on the side. Everything has to look roadworthy, so if the tyres and brakes are shagged, do those first, but they'll only have a cursory glance over it. No electrical or gas certificates required either.
Pretty simple. Vicroads are more concerned with it being stolen so if you have proof you own it, you're 90% of the way there. 👍

I agree that it appears to be mid 70's. From the info on Shelley's list - square wheel arch is from 72 onwards. Windows in doors seem to have been introduced around 76? If you intend to renovate there maybe a chassis number and date written on the back of the internal ply lining beside the front window - that was fairly common practice on the Millard production line. There may also be information tags on the stove, fridge, and the electrical switch box cover inside an overhead cupboard. As for the 168-8 DS N, it may indicate 16ft8ins x 8ft with Double & Single beds or something along those lines? Cheers, Arthur
