ROFL thats me Mustang, jack of all trades master of none...... unless an Associate diploma in Engineering Counts.
OK well its been a few days since i posted. Been kicking a few goals had a few delays with getting materials delivered and now the misses is running out of things to do so ive had to jump back on the dog trailer and then over to the Viscount. Running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Cracked it yesterday and spent three hours tidying my workshop as it was becoming a bit of a commando course working in there.
Anyhow the build the build....
Now that the design is done i couldn't wait to sink my teeth into the framing so back to the parts van, out with the tools and as the misses was busy else where, the roof came down very carefully and i caused no more damage.

I must admit after demolishing two vans the wrong way, it was nice to actually pull a van apart the correct way. All materials that were not destroyed by the weather are reusable (with a bit of panel beating).
Walls and end frame outside workshop ready to be reworked
Now to disassemble the roof
Roof frame joins the walls
My Supervisor for the day
Bare Chassis. Completely and utterly cactus. Broken in three places welds let go. ready for the scrap heap after pulling gas fittings, tank, axles and springs off.
Wheels bare metaled, etched and painted ready for delivery to get some new rubber
Wheels back from the tyre guy and was in so much of a hurry to see how they looked on i didnt dust them off. grrrr
Again getting impatient haven't buffed or re blacked the hub caps
Roof frame disassembled. Side frames panel beaten back into shape thanks to mr tree branch. These openings will be modified to take a four seasons hatch

I have also been point measuring the roof and now have a roof profile from front to back in my computer. From this i can model the entire 16 ft wall frames and then cut and modify them on my computer to suit the 22 ft chassis with dog boxes and print myself out a set of plans. This way the margin for error when cutting up the 16ft frames is marginalized. my original plan was to build the wall frames from the roof down starting with pop riveting the roof rail from the 16 ft to the top piece of skin from the doug, however after panel beating one of them back into shape it was obvious this plan wasn't going to work as i needed to pull this piece into shape by bolting it to the wall frame. future pics will explain what i mean if i lost you.
Speaking of dog boxes the steel showed up for them today so once i get the dog trailer to where the misses can carry on ill be neck deep in them hence the workshop clean up.
Now to catch up on everyone elses vans
Take Care
