When we sold our modern we included the satellite dish, tripod, TV, topbox, satellite finder & cables with it. It was a pain in the butt to set up. Reluctant to buy again until we saw a demo, oh my how things have improved. The dish folds & comes with its own S/S stand that also folds & stores into a quality bag. No tripod. The new satellite finders take seconds to lock onto the Optus C1, without connecting to the TV initially. The TV has its own top box built in with a DVD player, so Vincent had to be connected for those trips with little reception. An under floor Sat fitting then uses the same coaxial cable as a regular antenna, internally the connectors at the splitter box just need to be switched as to what antenna you are using. Very small connector & no need to pierce the cladding with a through wall fitting.

This technology is a little out of place for the classic, so I make the assumption it is going to be attached to the car.. They have been the subject of some considerable discussion in my household. Keep getting told we don't need one until we are in a location where we have no reception.. I'm ok I can watch DVDs swmbo misses out on her 'days of our lives' stuff..

I'm ok I can watch DVDs swmbo misses out on her 'days of our lives' stuff.. Uncle and Aunty are currently touring in their modern, at 4pm each day they had to be stopped and setup to watch Bold & Beautiful, even on the Gibb River Road.

No right or wrong... just what is enjoyed.

Strange how a grandchild comes to YOUR home takes over the couch, the remote, the volume the conversation, the tomato sauce .

Strange how a grandchild comes to YOUR home takes over the couch, the remote, the volume the conversation, the tomato sauce . Meeting my Dads side grandparents, in 1963, no way any of us were allowed chat, unless answering questions from adults, we were kitchen based, until dinner. We were allowed into the snug/lounge, to sit only on the plastic covered seating and to remain quiet during the news! Mums very strict Mum told us very curtly we should stay in the sty with pigs, until we proved we could behave and be tidy! (Former WW2 aircraft manufacturer forewoman - made Mosquito wings & tails) now relegated to just farming. Any issues in 2017... i blame the parents or grand parents lol. My grandson tries it on but just as i brought up his dad... my place my rules = he is happy to play and even said( now being grown up and 8yrs) " i prefer visiting you as my other grandparents are too easy and not into "games" (what he calls waiting for a break in conversation & getting in with a reply, not just being ignored) He thinks being the centre of attention is hard work at the other Grandparents, but happily just listens or gets into screen time games, without having to think up ways of being the centre of the universe. In another year or so it will be interesting with competition from his cousin. (only 6mths atm) To make life easier for me i like to time visits with also my nieces/ nephew so they can tribe off and just be themselves.

I like ol'school values. I demand respect and manners, things in my house have been a little tense over the last couple of weeks but they will improve in time...
I never dreamed that an 8 year old and a 4 year old could go through 12 gig of data in 3 days.. That access had to end quick..
Don't know when we will get to go off in the caravan again..

Is that elaborate 3d online gaming or a youtube frenzy bandwidth issue?

If it makes you feel better, we burn through around 20 to 25 gig PER DAY!
That's with just 3 of us - me and SWMBO and my 19 yo Son.
As there's basically SFA on FRA telly anymore, SWMBO will have Netflix or Stan running, I'll generally be doing the same or YouTube on my iPad and Son will be online gaming or Netflix, etc.
