Calling all Classic Caravanners in W.A. I am desperate for any information on the present owners of my old Thomson Caravan, This caravan was seen last week on the Great Northern Highway heading into Perth from the North. I sold the Thomson about 7 years ago, and up till now, I thought it had been destroyed in a Bush Fire, I have been trying to contact the people who bought it off me, but they have moved on and changed their phone number.
If anyone has seen this Thomson, or knows the present owners, Please let me know a.s.a.p via personal email
Thanks Heaps K.J.

G'day kiwijim, I sure hope you manage to track the van down. It should never have left your yard, hey?!! (...hindsight is wonderful... ) Have you checked all the various caravan forums to see if the owner has posted anything about the van (photos of trips; or a question about the van; etc)? Good luck with the hunt for it! cheers, Al.

G;day AL & Bobt, It's great to hear from a couple of original Members of this Forum, Thanks for the advice, so far I have posted a Wanted ad with pictures on Gumtree, but no results so far, I've also looked at posting a notice on the Vintage Forum, but unsure where it should be placed, do the wrong thing there and you are shot down in flames. !! I have a few other Forums to contact as yet, so my hopes are still running high. You are right Al, I should never have sold the Thomson, It was the Wife who spotted the Van last weekend, she was off with the Daughter, visiting some friends up North when she spotted it heading into Perth on the other side of the Freeway, with a dirty great divider down the middle, they were unable to turn around and give chase, mores the pity. Fingers crossed that it is found again "ah" K.J.

It's now 10 Days since the Thomson was spotted in the Midland area of W.A. And still no word from the Owner or of any other sightings. I have published a notice, the same as above, on the V.V. Forum, but no response there either !!!! "Come on People" it must be somewhere !!!! K.J.

Do you have a local member? they may be able to help if you know the number plate? (WA registrar of motor vehicles) "Yep" tried that a while ago Mustang, The Thomson comes up as unlicensed !!! The only thing I can try now is to write to the licensing Mob and ask them, who owns the van now , but that's where it starts to cost me, search costs $$$$ then the info could not be forwarded because of Privacy concerns etc etc etc !!!! If you have ever dealt with a Govt Dept, you will know what I mean . Still lookin K.J.

Iv'e had it twenty years, changed from a car to a bike, now evidently I don't own it because its registered to another company, same name but with an apostrophe . The other company is inactive, I have mountains of proof, but because some one made an error it can't be undone. If I threw caution to the wind & said I will re-purchase it I can't....its already issued... to an inactive company!!!! go figure? It is weird that the Thompson, apparently still in good condition is being towed without registration, or is that a standard answer from the registrar so they don't have to deal any further?? The plot thickens.

Govt rules and regulations, I'm sure they were written by a bunch of school kids, on their lunch break !!!!
I was really PIxxxed off when I went to relicense the Thomson, they would not put it's name on the license papers , because it was not built in Aussie, so to this day it's called a "NO NAME" It could be an idea of yours about printing some pamphlets with it' description, the only draw back there is, I would have to be very careful where they were posted, The Graffiti Police are like a pack of hungry Alsatians in this neck of the woods !!!!

"GREAT NEWS" My search has come to an end today, with a phone call from the lady who owns the Thomson Caravan that I've been looking for.
It turns out that it is still owned by the same lady who purchased it from me around 7 years ago, She tells me that they only use the Thomson about 6 times per year, that is up until recently, now it is in a shed for a major make over with a new paint job to match a Vintage car that will pull it, They intend to paint it an iridescent green, so it may be a little different when I next spot it on the road,
The lady who owns the Thomson is very keen to find all information on the Van, so I will be forwarding this Forums address along with many others, including the address in Scotland where the Thomson is still registered.
Cheers all K.J. ( one happy vegemite )

GREAT NEWS KJ. Tell us more , how did you find the van?
Hope the green turns out OK & they use some white as you had done.
I liked the original period colour scheme, but at least the van is in good hands, we should see some images soon.

GREAT NEWS KJ. Tell us more , how did you find the van? Hope the green turns out OK & they use some white as you had done. I liked the original period colour scheme, but at least the van is in good hands, we should see some images soon. Well it's quiet an involved story how I found the Thomson, but here goes, It all started with me posting a Porta Potti for sale on Gumtree would you believe !!!! To start with, I had posted a photo of the Thomson on Gumtree as a Wanted ad, this was way back in April, Now, a lady copied and posted the ad on a Caravan & camping Forum, This ad was read by a person who happened to read my ad on Gumtree for the sale of a Porta Potti, she also recognized the Thomson as belonging to her friend, this lady bought the Loo of me and at the same time told me she knew where the Thomson was, she then contacted the owner, telling her of the ad on Gumtree and of my interest in locating the Caravan once again, As a result, the owner rang me yesterday, she told me that they still use the Thomson about 5-6 times a year, and that when it was spotted on the highway back in April, they were returning from a trip up to Karijini National Park. She also said that on one trip they broke the draw bar and had to have it welded to get home !! but apart from that, they have been having a great time in it and the same as me , people are still coming up to them , saying we saw that van in so and so place a long time ago. Well that's it, we're happy to know that all's well with the Thomson and I will remain in touch with the present owner, as she has promised to forward photos of the Thomson as it is today, So, there could be more pictures to appear here shortly. Cheers K.J.
