Hi All,
We are looking a purchasing a 1981 Millard pop top which is very good condition inside and out.
We want to spray the internal cupboards and doors.
I think they are vernier so I am after any tips and trick...
Or should I strip the van and get it professionally sprayed
Thanks Charchie

Hi Charchie, Welcome. This forum fosters DIY primarily but if you have the money for professional services go for it.
Vernier or bright/shiny finish will need an etch primer to make the next coat stick, also cupboards that receive a lot of handling may need a tough top coat.
If you were to have the doors resprayed professionally, remove them, ID them somehow & paint them out side the van, I think spraying inside could have undesired results?
We have an category here called "Hall of Fame" start your own thread there with images & your story. There are tutorials for Flickr in "General & Photobucket in Hall of Fame. Good Luck with your project. Brent

A 1981 caravan will always be a dated 1981 caravan, the lipstick on a pig scenario seldom works, especially if the original interior, that goes with everything is in good nick.
Update paint surfaces so also now curtains and the pop top canvas elements look very 80s and should be replaced. The seat cushion fabric needs to match the paint and horror is the wrong shape as all modern cushions have that lovely multi panel sculptured look. Maybe now the windows need replacing as the alloy frames look meh, compared with the all in one smokey look, now favoured, plus not having the built in blinds and flyscreens... is a bit dated. So much easier to embrace the "inner shoulder pads and big hair glory days" of 1981!!! haha
