Hi! I thought that I had pioneered the concept of restoring vintage caravans a couple of weeks ago only to discover someone else has done this before!! Haha. Plenty of sand to bury your head in over here in WA. I had seriously never seen one. (Until I googled it) So here I am. Green as can be. My husband and I have spent the last couple of weeks researching, 'you-tube'ing and driving many kms to look at old vans. What we are thinking is: *About 18 ft. (have 3 growing darlings) *will probably have to go 70's in our budget *All aluminium. (Don't want to discover a rotten frame) *Buy cheap with good body and be prepared to replace everything if necessary. *Re-seal everything. *probably unlicensed We have been looking in the usual places, but if anyone knows of vans available for sale that fit this bill, I would be keen to hear. We have done some serious renovations in the past. Skill shouldn't be a problem with the right advise. Thanks in advance!

Hi Welcome to the forum. You could double this request on our sister forum Vintage Vans, I believe there are some WA members on there.
Our Viscount is a 1977 & has a full aluminium frame, I think the aluminium started a bit earlier. See the Museum section here & on VV site also.
You are on the right path, a wood frame van with water ingress is a total rebuild, be patient they do come up. There is a good Stardust for sale in WA by member Greg Tuck, the van is a good size for a family & has been fully renovated.
Good Hunting Brent
