Hi Retired John, How are you fairing with the floods?
Any other members affected by this weather event? There would have been some vans tested last week. Brent

If you live in land, I think a boat would be a good thing to have at this moment.

I jest. But there is nothing to joke about if your in the middle of it. I have family on the Gold Coast who have had some flooding, luckily its been minor and family in Rockhampton waiting to see how they fair.
Be safe and stay off flooded roads. If you cannot see what is there its a good chance its been washed away.

Where i was near Nambour last year, while high from flooding, his bottom 2 hectres went under as it backs onto the river but damage from wind bringing down branches from his 100foot plus tall palm trees was savage to house roof & garage, lots of fine leaf mulch painted walls in exposed areas. Nothing like the losses of another good mate & fam, who run a maxi & other boats out of Airlie.

Whether these events have been caused by man or not, we live in a new era I believe, as reported several times last winter "this summer will be wetter & hotter" Well they got that right.
Recently I spoke to a Canadian Uni student who did her thesis on global warming. I mentioned the shrinkage of Franz Joseph Glacier in NZ (alarming) Her reply was simply "you better believe its here, look at your Barrier Reef"
The Fitzroy River in Rockhampton is causing devastation again, governments in this country are slow learners, history just repeating itself. Rant Over.

Nothing new about the Fitzroy River Flooding Rockhampton. I have seen that happening for many many years. It's the reason they built that new bridge at the south end of town.
I have a very vivid memory of us camping in our caravan beside a river, below a bridge south of Rocky, when I was young. On our return home we had to stop at that very bridge wait several hours for the tide to go out so we could use the bridge to cross the river. The camp spot was/is Calliope.
