Debbie has been for a visit, here on the Sunny Coast we got off lightly. Seems the Gold Coast received our share & how about Lismore. But we were without power for 24 hours, I knew I bought that Honda for something, wasn't thinking cyclones at the time.
So what is the cost of power?? is it currently at a reasonable price, divide your bill into hours?
I guess after not having it for a day, makes you think how luxurious electricity is.
We could go out to the box & turn it off & listen to the genny or invest into a battery bank? think I'll stay with the luxury of the switch. Cheers

Relatives in Beaudesert had to use a boat to get from their car to their house. No power at their place either. They would have been ok if the caravan was at home, its set up for free camping.. But it was not so they had to cook in the fire pit and live in the dark.
Guess we are lucky, power goes off occasionally but never for very long. We have solar on the roof but no batteries. Same with us as long as the caravan is not far away we can be comfortable in that if their is no power coming from the grid.
One thing I notice and wonder how many others picked up on it. Our dear beloved PM has installed Solar and battery system into his home. Is there a message in that??

Yeah, the vans the place to be when there's no power. I can still watch TV, etc. I do have a generator (12KVA 3 cylinder Kubota) which is currently at a mates workshop waiting for me to do some work to it which I'll be installing at my place before next Summer. I think things will get worse with power continuity before it gets better.

I think things will get worse with power continuity before it gets better. Reported by the Energex CEO on ABC that several poles would have to be flown in by chopper to parts of Nth Qld as either the roads were blocked or no roads. So they have their problems to, they have done an amazing job to get the nation back on so quickly. When one looks at the trucks & parts inventory & manpower required I have stopped "power bashing" Now if we could build a series of dams (like after WW2) & harness all that free water?? Cheers

I work in the industry so I'm not about to start bashing them either. There's other things going on with power security that's out of their control but that's a discussion for another time and place.
