Greetings,
i just wonder if anyone can help me with a general query as to caravan freighting options.
We have a very old Hunter Junior van from the late 40s or early 50s which presently lives unrestored on my sister in law's farm. We wish to freight it back to Melbourne to restore but don't have a suitable vehicle at present which would cope with the weight of a trailer (and van). I just wonder if anyone has any experience with vehicle freighting companies between Sydney and Melbourne and may have some general idea as to what the costs may be and any practical considerations? I would like to find the simplest and cheapest means to bring the van back and am keen to establish points of departure. I would also be interested to hear recommendation of companies which have proved good service if possible. There is no hurry re the project.
My sincere thanks,
Stephen

Try Custom Haulage Pty Ltd.
Email customhaulage@yahoo.com.au
I think he is based in Melbourne but goes all over.
Cheers Bob.

Don,t use a general freighter, there have been horror stories on the VV forum. If you decide to retrieve it yourself, buy a roll of pallet wrap.

Many thanks for your suggestions. I really appreciate having some points of departure and will follow up with quotes. It will be a while before things properly unfold but I am keen to establish a general costing for freight etc.
Thanks again and have a restful Christmas.
Stephen
