We moved into our lovely home 7 years ago, the roof looked great. In the last 12 months the colour virtually just washed off? Now we have to invest &6000.00 to have it coated (not painted) The makers O*e Steel say its 2 years out of warranty.?? THAT MONEY COULD HAVE BEEN MY NEXT PROJECT!!!!!!!!

If the biggest problem you have can be solved by spending a few dollars you do not have a problem just an inconvenience always look at it that way less stress and in the end there are no pockets in shrouds as my Grandad used to say

Hi Mustang, We moved into our house 15 years ago and a lady stopped to tell us that the grey colourbond roof was dodgy and to get in touch with colourbond.we did and they came and inspected it and offered to supply all new roofing if we paid labour. We arranged quotes which were around $20.000 to instal which at the time we couldn't afford so let it be. After all this time it actually doesn't look to bad ,so I don't stress about it any more!If we decide in the future to sell we will have it painted. Btw,a "lifetime guarantee" is 25 years,so colourbond tells me! Cheers hughdeani

Must be the week for roofs. Got a mob to come quote to paint our concrete tiles. They wanted to re point it all I said no thanks just a paint, his response was, no we are not interested! All it needs is a repaint 😞

G'day mustang,
One Steel is a distributor, not the manufacturer. Colorbond (and note there is no 'u' in the c-o-l-o-r letters) is made by Bluescope Steel. Having worked for 35 years in the adjoining steelworks here in Port Kembla, next to the Lysaghts factory where Colorbond is made, I can give you some pointers to resolve your situation:
- Get in touch with your nearest Head Office Marketing Dept for Bluescope Steel (most likely the Brisbane office), - Explain your situation, and ask them if they could get someone to come and inspect your roof and offer advice, - If your roof was genuinely made by Bluescope steel, and is not an imported look-a-like product, they MAY be prepared to come to an agreement for replacement, given the relatively short lifespan of the product, - Be prepared for a disappointing response if you live within 1km of a salt air environment (ie, close to the ocean, lake, etc), or you are close to industrial environments where chemicals are exhausted into the atmosphere through chimneys, etc. - Have a relaxed, friendly approach when contacting the Company - it's more about a "Is this normal for your product?" type of conversation, rather than a "WTF is this @#&*ing heap of sh!t roofing??!!!!"
- Be like a dog with a bone - if you don't get good customer service from the first person who answers your query, escalate it up the chain, all the way to the Chairman of the Board if necessary. - And to repeat, Make sure your roof is actually Colorbond roofing, not an inferior imported product, before contacting the Company.
cheers, Al.

Hi Guys, Yes we have been diligent, on our original plans we had the proof of supply.
Our response from Blue Scope was that "your" roof had an original 10 year warranty. We didn't accept that as obviously the product was faulty, but after speaking to the higher ups we drew a blank. Our house as the crow flies is possibly 4/5km from the sea & this area has been famous for faulty colors.
What amazed us is the speed at which this deteriorated. PS: Good to see you again Al.

Where I live, there are LOADS of homes with faded roofing. Perhaps close proximity to the salt water has something to do with it but this is not an uncommon site here.
