A member of the VV forum has re-produced a Kennedy from the original mould , I believe he wants to sell them as a rolling chassis? The contentious issue is " is it a repo or vintage" . My vote is for vintage as it has come from the original mould?? link

My vote is for vintage as it has come from the original mould?? Maybe not vintage, but continuence. This is how Carroll Shelby maketed the AC Cobra when he started selling copies of the 1960's AC Cobra. Warren

Awesome stuff. Vintage would indicate age as such I thought, so reproduction would be my vote.
PS: WHAT A GARAGE!

Its Ok to take an old van & reproduce 90% of it , but the likes of the new Sunliner in its original look & shape is not acceptable??. The new Sunliner drew attention to period vanning & popularized the event, sadly it did not last. The Kennedy is being remade from the original mould... that must be somewhere to original, not a new repo?? I like old, & the new repos, the new teardrops, they should all be fostered by the relative forums even under separate headings.

See the value of chosing words like historical? Our replica 1919- 1951 era boats are now rapidly becomming classics! , as the first one was built in 1990, and time rapidly marches on. Only one member left from those 1989 ëmotional foundation meetings, pre incorporation, of not the "Vintage Sailing Skiff Assn but the Australian Historical one that fosters replicas, originsls & modern classics considered to be of interest. More than two decades have passed since folks had barneys about blah blah blah and having to make excuses about exceptions for things that look old but are new.

And all screws MUST be slotted plus no mod cons no decent refrigeration or decent bed and and and and and You will get smacked for the mere suggestion mr 'stang , after my foray into vv world my advise to anyone is , do whatever you want to make it how you will be comfortable using it but under no circumstances share the experience or tell anybody on vv forum This is probably why this forum is so active and growing

Yeah, I see both points, but I am just going by the official definition of vintage which one is: "Denoting something from the past of high quality, especially something representing the best of its kind."
Key work here is past, so if something is produced now, its not vintage. I also see that Reproduction doesnt fit either as it indicates: "Made to imitate the style of an earlier period or of a particular craftsman" - clearly using the original moulds means its not an imitiation...
Damn, this is why I aint no lawyer lol

(that description tas seems to be wine specific as an adjective & also an implied sales pitch for auctions, a bit like renovators dream for home buyers. Reproduction is open as in this case using original tooling helps the cause, making improvements along the way should not detract, example using glass for windows rather than early mica plates. ( source bush lawyering for dummies 101 vol 3.0) lolz

Nice to see this happening..
It will need a compliance plate, vin number and a chassis number to be registered in any state in Aus. Unless you wish to tell lies (dont get caught)it will be a long time before it will qualify for Historic Rego.
Reproduction it is....
