I've considered making basic versions for resale at swap meets to make a few bucks but haven't had the time so far...maybe next year, lol! They'd probably sell like hot cakes? Nothing complex - no rocket science involved. Just 2 main components - a sheet of cladding and some T1 aluminium perimeter extrusion. Hinges can be fitted as required, by new owner. But authentic Viscount style with hurricane hinge and rigid radius frame would be far more difficult. Hurricane hinge is expensive and not easy to find. The rigid radius corner frame would have to be machine rolled by a bending specialist. I've already found a factory that can roll ali extrusion it but that would mean more expense! I'll just think about it a bit longer, lol! Cheers, Arthur

Another way is to wander the permanents in caravan parks?
AT NIGHT ?After mine flew off in transit i pondered this and have noticed many permanent park classics have new cheap ones or gone colourbond/ canvas, fast cash in the pocket as the average price is $100+ A similar but tandem version of mine permanent owner got $150 cash plus a case of beer plus the new plastic protector thrown in as the guy replaced it with the correct version. Both parties more than happy he said, stupid old thing was cactus and covered in lichten. Whoo Hoo, i imagine the classic owner said, after cleaning it and now having matching cladding on his protector.

Hi Sharky, If the original poster is not interested, I am hunting one for my van and will be coming through inland Vic in the next couple of weeks. What size is yours? I was given this link over on the vintage forum as my van is a 1965 Viscount Valiant. The size I would need is around 1500 mm (w) x 550 mm (h) (window size) or up to 2000mm wide and height somewhere in the vicinity ok. Thanks for letting me stop in Sonja

I read a post on one of the facebook caravan pages (possibly the Viscount Caravan Owners page?) that someone was about to start making them. I believe there may be plastic/acrylic versions commercially available (Camec perhaps?)

Heya what is the actual name of that group? The link goes to an message "The link you followed may have expired, or the Page may only be visible to an audience that you aren't in." So if it is a closed membership group then it can be searched or just link the front page (not content) like so www.facebook.com/groups/1609313926004546/

Sorry, can't find it now. Probably been sold & deleted....these things have a habit of getting snapped up pretty quickly. There are now dedicated facebook groups for Millard & York, Viscount, Franklin, Hillandale, Vintage Caravans, Sunliner, Classic Caravans, Caravan Buy Swap & Sell, Caravan Renovations, and a shipload of others and they all have heaps of stuff for sale. If I see another one I'll put up a link. Cheers, Arthur
