Hi everyone. New to this awesome forum that I stumbled across. A few weeks ago I picked up this 15ft Golf caravan in awesome condition for $4000. Has a near new fridge and full near brand new awning and annex. So when I arrived home the first thing I did was tear the inside apart lol. My goal is to modernise the interior and change the layout to suit my needs better. As can be seen it's In very good condition for its age, the chassis is also in immaculate condition as well which is good. Looks like it's had a new drawbar put on to. Ill post some more pics when I get home, it's been a long night at work. (zzz)Would love opinions! Will add photos when I figure out how to... (Apologise for grammar/ errors, using my phone) Edit: Pics

I Have decided to change the layout of the van a bit, at first I decided on pulling out the end cupboard at the foot end of the bed to increase the length a bit since its only a double in length (and not quite in width) as when I was laying in it my head and feet were touching at both ends. But then I had the thought of swapping the couch and the bed over to the opposite ends, as this would allow me to increase the bed width by about 10cm and the length significantly. I would also be able to create a more usable lounge area and the table would have a proper place. So then i started on removing the bed frame So that was torn down and i marked out where the couch is now going to go, and i'm going to reconstruct the end storage shelf as a sort of TV unit and extra storage. If you look close you will see the lines on the floor, the L being the couch and the line under the window being the TV unit/ Storage. So yesterday my brother and I started building the framing for the new couches and hopefully that will be finished shortly (no pics as of yet)

Seems to be a common theme on this forum... buy a caravan, join this forum, rip caravan apart and rebuild hehe
Nice work, looks to be in great condition so you got a good clean canvas to work with.

As it was raining most of the day yesterday I was able to find out if there are any leaks, there was only one we could find which was on the back window. So the plan this weekend is to re seal the windows as ill have access to a carport for a few weeks. Not exactly sure what the best method is, they are screwed in from the outside with lots of silicon so ill have a read up on whats best or some help on what to do would be great! The main roof itself seems to be in good condition, Though I would like to replace it im not sure if Im capable of it and have absolutely no idea how to. There has been leaks there before which made the layer over the wood peel in places (looks like a wallpaper almost?). I have cleaned it up with sanding and puttying but im not sure if its just going to be a temporary fix (dont have pics of this unfortunately). But when I looked on the outside of the roof under the poptop i saw this It does feel a bit soggy, im just not sure on what to do with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! and now the threads pretty much up to speed to where im at, and ill be sure to keep updating as I go.

Been a while since I've logged on, and recently just got back into the reno. Ill post a bigger update and more photos once I have access to a computer but just wondering if anybody knows what these are called/ where I could buy them? They are used for holding the roof down when the pop top is collapsed. There are hooks attached to the roof which hold it down secure. I've somehow managed to lose them while fixing up the interior 😠. Need to buy 3 of them. Look forward to the responses!

G'day aurion, Geez mate, the one thing you don't do when renovating a caravan is to lose bits and pieces. The full name for the spring-loaded clamp is a "Bonnet clamp chrome straight with clip", so the bits you've lost are the clips. From what I can see on the internet, you can't just buy the clips, and have to buy the clamp and the clip as a set. Caravan RV Camping have them in stock for $18.95 a set (and note the title showing of the part as "Bonnet clmp crme strght w clip" which would make it bloody near impossible to find in an internet search. Whoever set up their website could do with a dictionary for a Xmas present.) Big Red Caravan Parts Online also show them as a set, but no price is given (but at least they've spelt the part name properly ). If you don't find the clips you've 'lost', you might have to investigate the possibility of making some up yourself, using the one you've still got as a template. cheers, Al.
