After fixing up my last van (big dual axle) decided I didnt want to have to tow a couple of tonnes of van around the country so picked this up the other day for the princely sum of $1200. Its registered as a Jayco 1983, not sure if its a Jayco looks more like an old Viking to me. At some stage it has had all the canvas replaced, cushions recovered, new lights and a few other bits and pieces. Overall in good condition and plans are to give it a tidy up and refurb in preparation for a 5000km trip later in the year.

Hi Adrian, Welcome to our forum, I think this is the first Jayco to be introduced. Before you head off for 5000k poke your head under & check out the axle/springs/brakes & bearings, much easier getting them up to scratch at home.
EDIT: I see now you have been a member, welcome back anyway.

We actually have a really good caravan mechanic guy based in town which fortunately we are good mates so he will be doing all the underside. Gave it a bit of a polish today before the rain hit and the outside paint work came up nice.

Don't know, but there is a Pos & Neg wire trying to marry below near the gas ring? I would be taping them!

Have made a bit of progress. Just waiting on the new hitch and jockey wheel tyre to arrive and front end is pretty much sorted. Getting a new brake line made up as well.
