Good year to be there with the bi annual fly over of the Catalina. Looking at the sideshow/ reatailer FB groups a real rock n roll 50s theme this year with live jive & miss pin ups.

HI, Shaun and I are thinking about going on the day. Not sure about the overnighter yet, It'll depend on work commitments. It looks like it'll be a good day. Monica

No silly showers will stop the show. Worst case is the show and shine becomes chamois & squeeze!

All our guys decided to give it a miss in the end Vintage Veteran and Classic is our thing not new modded etc They need to decide which way they want to go IMHO modern and Hotrod or stick with the oldies I would not like to be caught behind the Viscount towed by the asthmatic 24/80 on the road although I did read somewhere else he tows it at 90kmh we towed a EMPTY 8x6 box trailer with ours from Brisbane to Dalby and it struggled up the Toowoomba range could not imagine towing a 16-17' caravan

Thanks for posting Ate. I watched the 2014 Video, it certainly is an interesting mix with mini Catalina's flying in & out of the car park!!!

All our guys decided to give it a miss in the end Vintage Veteran and Classic is our thing not new modded etc They need to decide which way they want to go IMHO modern and Hotrod or stick with the oldies Lol i think "they" will do whatever. Some impromptu market research among visitors confirmed what is seen on the major facebook groups. The mostly under 50s want to create what they want/ need within a budget, without concern for anything and most just label the scene as "retro". A recurring theme was newbies being told "we all just build/ repair what we want" so take that as carte blanche (a no rules situation). The older crowd was elusive in couple cliques or watching the air show so not much interaction for me. From many years of "historical boat" display work i know the Hunter- Gosford - Newcastle scene is active cash ready and more about friends bonding over shared whatevers, than being sticklers for tradition. We were lucky here as by removing the confusion of free form peer direction, then critique, for not creating what was expected, by enforcing some basic rules that zone now has almost as many new build to class numbers as the Sydney & Brisbane fleets. So over a 15 year period the last 5 years we were able to set in stone a happy scene that fits in on a National and historical accurate base that can mingle when visting away. The VV scene lost out here in my opinion as the majority of visitors and down the track active members, will not know alternatives and naturally join in on the existing super modified rock and roll trend, rather than be educated about the glory days of way back when. Tug choice may vary!

A bit off topic but i get annoyed with average folks on the road when driving my L300 van, off the lights as the 1596cc does what it does, while being tailgated , beeped by impatient types in lightweight high performance, compared to 1985 buzz boxes. This is in a scenario where there are many sets of lights and most of the congestion is via trucks being up to 90% slower than i, slowly grind their gears to accelerate up to 40klm in the 70klm zone, along one of Sydneys slowest 6 lane roads. 23 sets of lights in 7 klms!
