Hi all, We have been very interested in all your comments about Escort Caravans, we have just purchased a 16 ft Escort 1972 model which we are in the process of restoring painted all the exterior trims where the green was we painted hyundai teal blue the same colour as our hyundai tucson and kept the orange which we updated to the international orange which is almost identical to the original orange colour just finished painting that today, we have only had it for about a month, it is in really good nick for its age it has bars going around the back of it I have weldered a modified car stand on the back and the piece that slides into the car stand I have attached to my motorized pushbike I have made a simple pulley set up that hooks onto the bike my wife just walks back pulling on the rope which lifts the bike as well as me lifting the bike gently and it just slides into position and we put the pin into the carstand and put a lock on it and off we go. We have two Plega Beds that fit into the back section absolutely perfect, we have altered the front section where the table and seating section was to accomodate more storage and a Fridge/Freezer and two deep cycle batteries we are hoping to purchase a good quality inverter we are also in the process of connecting a charging system from the car to the caravan using anderson plugs the car charges the batteries so you never have a flat battery. Just a point that you might be interested I got married in 1972 and now I own an Escort Caravan that is a 1972 and I am now 66 years young we are very happy with it looking forward to hitting the road in it at the end of the year. Back in 1975/1976 I think that was around the dates my memory is not as good as it used to be I worked at Coronet Caravans in Victoria for approximately 3 years I left there 6 months before it closed down the ballarat branch the wendoree branch incase anyone knows about ballarat I did lots of different things while working there but for a lot of the time I fitted the gas stoves and gas/electric fridges to the vans which was a great job. I think we will sign off now hope to hear from someone real soon. Nev/Loren
We will upload some pictures another day of what it looked like and the new paint job.

[gobbly gook] not <ins gobbly gook> html V board friendly bb codes. "Please explain" Hey Ate can you help with the above problem please? Hi Brent & anyone looking to post things here or on Vintage Caravans. Think of code as a language. A forum like this one uses "BB" code: Most internet pages use HTML code: Image hosts give a link for both systems (code/ language) So here we need to only copy & paste what is needed = [ img] your pic [/ img] anything that starts with < avoid!

Thanks Ate, thats a good tip, I just created a test image of Nev & Lorens van, using "direct" from photobucket, seems to work as well.

Hi Mustang and Ate, Thank you so much for all your help it is greatly appreciated, we did give you a bit of a task to sort out didn't we in the future if we send any more we can just check on the information you gave us to solve the problem, we must admit it does look better without all the coding we didn't like it there but we couldn't get rid of it, so once again thank you so much and to Ate for his assistance too thank you. Today Neville painted the escort sign on the front and on the back as we couldn't buy them anymore they both look good in the Hyundai Teal Blue for background and International Orange for the lettering of escort, only thing to do now is the clear coat over top to protect it. We brought a tv antenna and connected that all up on a tall pole very good reception. Just making it look better for when we get it on the road something we can be proud of. Nev and Loren.

Hi Nevandloren, I see your Escort is registered so should have tare weight from papers,I would guesstimate around 1000-1100 kg empty, add 250 or 300 loaded. So your car handbook will tell what weight you can tow. You would need at least 1700 or 1800 tow car to be safe and legal. Hope this helps hughdeani
