I posted this on the VV forum too, didn't see any mention of it.
Time will tell what someone is prepared to pay for the FX.
After all who would ever have thought that a 1971 Falcon would sell for $995,000!!! A friend of mine sold his for $750K, took a long time to wipe the smile off his dial. It would be an interesting auction to attend. Better if I had won lotto..

But this auction has some mint condition low mileage cars, the problem I see when something mechanical sits so long & you want to use it there are always hidden repairs that need the unit bought up to scratch. The FX for example is never going to see the road, who would insure it? I would still like one or two though!!!! Cheers Brent

The age old conundrum of old things, at the first CCTVMC i went to at the then recently closed to Touring Car & open wheeler racing but still in advertising bleechers etc config Warwick Farm Raceway. I discovered two breeds. The purist who loved and displayed the trailered to the event types & the onya who while bragging about a low milage marque he had just bought would then go on to rave about doing interstate trips in the thing... thus spoling it down the track but enjoying the cash spent. Hopefully none of the auctioned rare beasties gets bought to be insured and used as daily drivers. I see around the web that #36 48-215 is for sale, asking $52k with approx 10,000miles on clock so it will be interesting to see what this much later one commands.

I would be a little surprised to see that go for the $1m look forward to seeing the results of the auction. As for insurance never a problem just a matter of whether you can cope with the premium. Usually if you can afford the car you can afford the insurance premium.

A bigger issue than the cost of insurance is when stuff happens, a mate sold his business and bought an original burgandy coloured Brougham, within the year it had been key scratched badly then stolen, never to be seen again, ( out front of a local post office)! He would have galdly traded 2x the cash payout to get the car back to enjoy. (2003)

If i wasn't a ford man and had the money i would be there a lot of cars that were around in big numbers when i was young you very rarely see them now. I hope he gets what he needs for the cars and they all go to good homes i do have to admit there are a few cars that may never see the road again.

I want an EH Standard 149 then i will replace the floor lino with black & white checker squares & fit heated Volvo seats instead of that stupid bench front seat, maybe some checkerplate trim under the bumper bars and along the under door exterior sills and fit a Toyota 3.2 Straight-5 diesel turbo and a fully sic 12 speaker & 2 sub woofer sound system. Fit a lowered Commodore suspension and hubs then can get those awesome 205/40 on 17 inch rims... or not!
