I have the Falcon BA XR8 that i used to tow the mostly stripped van from Cowra to Western Sydney without a problem did put new light truck tires on van to get it home original ones looked like they would have fell apart before we got to Blayney . Lucky we only have a single axle van or the Falcon wouldn't be able to tow it as for some reason ford put a limit of 1500kgs on the manuals but an auto can tow up to 2300kgs . the Wife's 2012 Territory is the V6 diesel it has plenty of torque for towing and is very economical we owned the earlier model petrol territory and the difference in running costs on fuel the diesel wins hands down for instance a trip to Inverell with petrol is about 75 liters diesel is about 40 to 45 liters. Being as the Wife will be using it a fair bit for a Photography business she is starting it will spend much more time following the territory . Bruce

Nice model The BA, both Ford & Holden have the most stunning styles in years, all to their demise. Hard to believe we will not have a car industry.

Yes very sad even though our car industry had been owned by overseas companies they employed a lot of Australians from design to manufacture also employed a lot of small companies to supply parts. Our short sighted government could have saved the industry but chose not to . I can understand the companies were doing it hard in America and Japan with the major economic disaster and we have a very small population compared to them we also seem to keep a car longer on average before buying a new one. Though i have only ever brought one brand new car and that was the wife's territory

If JW Howard (Treasurer) & Malcom Fraser (PM) gave, or as requested in 1977, loaned only 10% of what was gifted to Detroit & 1% approx of approved "bottom of the harbour schemes", then the world beating Aussie AWM at Top Ryde may have taken over as Silicon Valley! At that time we led the world in microchips and guess what... those folks emigrated to where and worked for whom? In reality we would still have those companies making things in China for global max profit but the spin off benifits rolling onto local R&D plus jobs, rents, companies that actually pay tax etc would have been worth it.

Well the XR8 is going to be sold have just put a deposit on a ford F350 so when I pick it up I can start a thread in the classic car section not the $100000 plus late models it is a 1974 model needs paint but I am told rust free so lucky me no hours with the grinder and mig . the wife suggested the F350 as in high wind she doesn't like how passing trucks seem to pull van and car on road and I like the idea I can take small aluminum boat and trailer in tray when van is behind. all the hard work is done king pins electric brake controller and it is a V8 Cleveland the windsor I think is a better engine but the Cleveland isn't to bad and if it is a 302 crank and rods change it to a 351 brand new tyres etc. So Monday I pick it up.

Still no time for pic's as with repairs for rego one oil leak caused by bad olive in oil line for after market gauge made it look like a rear seal gone now just waiting on a sender unit for a early ford. Chasing wiring that has been added over the last 40 odd years by the evil wiring fairy and to make life more interesting lets throw in dozens of scotch blocks evil little things and hidden every where. So my time off has been spent chasing parts wiring trying to get carby working properly though that is coming allong I pulled it off and sprayed it with carby clean that has got it working better so now I ordered a kit for it that should fix it. much cheaper than a new carb.
