Hi all. I bought this van last year and have stripped it back ready for a refresh. In the process I looked high and low for any info on make and year but all I found was some measurements on the framing. I think it is a Supreme from 74...I am struggling to see the chassis number properly...need to go back out and double check. I think it is S45481. The first letter is hard to read....it could even be a P. I have seen a similar one on eBay for sale with no info...so not much help.
Apologies if I posted in wrong section.
OK pics won't upload due to forum exceeding space:-( The top has a wave shape or a shark fin as I have dubbed it, a solid stripe through the middle and tandem doors. It is about 28 feet long. My avatar is the van I'm seeking info on.
Cheers - Sparkles

In the 1970s that style of roof ( on coaches/ busses) was called a "deck & one half" said deckanda harf Did any name get given to the stepped caravan version? On a coach body it allowed extra storage space under floor for extended camping tours and the growing trend of folks packing bigger suit cases etc.

On the Viscounts and other vans of the time they were called a hip roof. The earlier Viscounts with the raised centre section were called "raised roof",Travelhome,Newlands,Futura,The Aussie Crusader all had this before the hip roof was in fashion. Cheers hughdeani

Thanks for that info! I guess it was hip to have more headroom. Would have been solid ( back in the day)to have a waggon/ saloon styled with the coke hip style rear door to boot towing a hip roofed caravan... right on!

Thanks caravan folks. I found out the number on the frame is R46481...the R may possibly be a P but more likely an R. I found an ad on Gumtree yesterday for a van that looks the same and they have cited it as a 1981 Viscount Supreme 25ft "Little Dormey" tandem. I haven't found any other info online about a Little Dormey. I am still a bit sus about the number on the trailer. I have found no other info on the van that gives away any info about it. I will go to QLD Transport and see if they can offer me any info. Thanks for the feedback.
I'm also after a replacement window for the van...where is the best place to look. It is the largest window I am after...the whole inner frame is missing.
Cheers Sparkles:-)

Qld transport can offer little. Upload some shots of the interior/cupboards/trim & Hughdini will date it for you. Windows usually only come by a donor van.
If you are going to park it up (not on the road) a window shop could fabricate a frame with sliders for you. Good Luck Brent

Working with the transport department is so much FUN !! They are my friend Now it is all computerised records doesn't go back very far in time They are so inflexible , the dates and numbers need to match everywhere especially if you change a drawbar and it gets thrown away !! Mine have all been re-registered after being expired for sometime so nothing is right "1964 equates to 1980" "Harris van equates to custom" easy This is the dummy spit section isn't it !!!

....the number on the frame is R46481... Sparkles, your van is possibly a 1974 Viscount Royal. R = Royal 4 = 1974 6481 = build number Cheers, Arthur
