Hi all, Our beloved 83 Viscount Grand Tourer was hit by a passing vehicle while parked and, you guessed it, the bugger kept driving and to this day is unknown. The damage is minimal, but will require alum edge strip, top cladding panel on the R/H side and rear roof roll to bring back to original. Does anyone know where I can get these items second hand, fabricated, or as an alternative I'd really appreciate creative ideas on how to fix our old girl. I've thought about replacing the originals with other panels if I cant get originals, like checkerplate etc, but think a checkerplate panel at high level looks a little odd, so any other ideas would be great. Here is the major damage drive.google.com/file/d/0B7H2z-bNIX8VQTQ2QTBheDg4ejA/view?usp=sharingthe rest of the damage is limited to small punctures along the R/H side, mostly confined to the top cladding panel. Thanks in advance Cameronb

Oooch !! that is a severe knock., and so high?? While at the Vintage Van Nationals I spoke to a gent who said there was caravan repair centre in Sydney that is folding up cladding to suit, but I can't remember the place. I would also run this notice on the Vintage Van site. link

Thanks Mustang, Yeah, truck height, but the damage continues, sort of bouncing down the side, so possibly something protruding from a skip bin? Either way, a real PITA. Thanks for the tip about Vintage Van site!

Get in touch with Barnes Caravans in Lansvale, an outer western suburb of Sydney. They can still roll some of the cladding profiles, so they may be able to do yours. They could also stock the edge moulding you are looking for.
cheers, Al.

You might have to remove the cladding from bottom up. So it will need to all come off. So the windows, door and tru-moulding will need to come off. It's not as hard as it sounds. The work is removing all of the old sealer and re-doing all the seals (which will likely need doing either way). I'm pretty sure you have some frame repair to do as well.
Why don't you try your local caravan repairer and see if they have the profile ? It is quite expensive the cladding.

I was ran into once. The offender stopped & left a note under my wiper, "Sorry I ran into your car". Luckily a resident witnessed & put a send note under my wiper with his rego number, make & model. He paid up!!!

If your original sticker is in good condition then grab a few as high quality pics as possible. (to use as artwork to create a new one) Cost of custom stickers can be as frightening cost as an entire caravan repair!

Looks nasty if cost of repairs are prohibitive what i have in mind to do my old girl who over the years have had a hard life with knocks and cuts is make patches out of 1.6mm aluminum and beat it as close as i can to profile pop rivet on with Sickaflex under to seal it as it as it never have to come off i hope. If your frame is aluminum being a flat type corner may have to measure size or tube with luck can join two together at the right angle the trim you may have to look for something close to it the large top corner section if not cut too badly may be able to knock back into shape big job but can be done. Best of luck with it hoping cost of caravan repairer is not too expensive. Would be better if the one that damaged paid for it
