hi I have just received this van it has been stored for 20 years it seems to be in good nick just some minor blemishes ie pitted aluminium- tyres- gas set up ,< bottles dated 1982> - brake system all minor now I am thinking I will just fix what needs to be done and leave the rest original any suggestions?

would bringing the van into the modern age distract from its originality I am thinking of installing a mains pressure tap and a fuse panel any thoughts anyone?? on my first trip last week the fridge surrounds got warm , ie the drawer above,, on setting 4 , there is room for insulation on the side and top,

Wow that is amazing. I dont think installing mains pressure tap and a fuse panel would detract from its originality. The latter is a pretty important addition in my view. The thing looks like it was built yesterday! Well done!

Hi Joe, I think your van is a 1978model going by the stripe and the upholstery colours. You can stuff insulation all around the fridge, and a piece of metal from the back of the fridge to the interior top of the vent so the heat is pushed outside, will make a big difference to the running of it. In the "0ld" days,it was Common to remove the cutlery drawer to help the heat escape! Cheers hughdeani

man, I have read your reno , where do you start, but I have got my eye on another one that needs a LOT done. the 77 model I have now does not require much, and I do like to keep busy. the thought just occurred to me < be careful what you wish for>

just back from a short hospital stay>> lung infection>> , inspected the van after the rain we had , and sure enough, found some leaks so that means taking of the corner strips and resealing, while the strips are of might as well give them a good clean, I was JUST going to touch her up and that would be it, but it never works that way does it? have also rubbed down the sun exposed door side, and primed it, ready for hand painting when the weather gets better

Hope you are recovering well.

Wow, what a beauty. So straight and shiny.
Before you dive in with the corner strips, have a look at the light mountings (brake, markers) if that looks to be near abouts where the leaks are.
I did the strips on mine but found the leak was from the brake lights. I suppose they are replaced (fiddled with) most often in their lifetime.
Depends on where the leaks are in yours.

I did look at all the lights , and there was water damage obvious , so I bought new lights , although I only needed the rubber seals, the lights were ok.
