So I picked up my Millard today just documenting my restoration process. So far all I've done is wd40 the doors and starting work on a degraceful paint job. Guy who had this before me has never completed anything to a quality standard.Dodgey welds and dodgey paint everywhere.

Yeah, some people just don't care, would be nice to of seen the caravan on release. It's a project. Still a long way To go. But she'll get there, going to need a name for the van.

Greens, can be really nice, but the colour i feel is more suitable to bondwoods & FJs. If you think someday it may sell, blue would be an easy colour.

Yeah I don't mind green externally, I'm thinking green/ black. Greens my favourite colour actually but just don't think its suits as a benchtop. Was hoping to get more done yesterday. Real world is a dreamkiller

I have a feeling this is going to be the running joke for the whole Reno, should just bite the bullet and call her the green machine. On a side note were all the lights on these 80 series millards often 12v?

So far just doing some tidying up of the interior. Removing staples adding more here and there. Just ripped out the make shift bed and remenants of the old seating. Got some back story turns out this was a salvation army van used as emergency housing which would explain why she was a little roughed up. I do have a question how likely would this lyno contain asbestos. Being a 79 or 81 according to rego I'm a little cautious.

I think you'd have less trouble with that roll Lino than the hard Lino tiles. You'd be less likely to tear up or fracture the flexible stuff, to release any fibers.
Nobody would call you a 'safety Sally' for wearing a mask etc.
I'm not touching the hard tiles in mine, they'll get covered when I get to them.

I used a heat gun & industrial mask. The tiles lifted easily but the roll Lino could only be moved a little at a time as the glue kept resetting. Took me 3 hours.

I'm going to head out and buy a respirator too be safe. At this point I've just been using a hair dryer. Do you think I should invest in a heat gun as well?

I started with a hair dryer and gave up quickly, then went to the big green shed and bought a heat gun. Worked a treat and I've used it since on other jobs. $29 well spent.

I never fostered buying cheap tools but with 3 year warranties I have had a marvelous run out of these Oz**tos. I bought a Tool pack from Masters 909, got 6 tools for 200. Overall tools work great, probably a little weak on power but overall there okay for those light jobs and money spent. can Actually see the saw in one of the photos on here. I mean 2 year warranty cant really go wrong. Ozitos work surprising well. Being an apprentice i can't really justify forking out hundreds on makitas or dewaults for the occasional tool.

so after lots and lots of searching... I WAS ABLE TO FIND MY VAN IN ORIGINAL CONDITION, and my god she's a beauty. If the benches looked that good in my van they would of gone no where. Little bit heart breaking to see how Badly my van was treated in comparison. Here's the link to the ad

So not too much too report but I got a new stove for the van which should be going in when the gas gets rested and cut back to size by a friend who's a plumber. I've done some work with the floor. What I did to make the area flat and safe was tape it with cloth tape. Put some moisture on top of the tape and stapled it flat. Used a p2 mask. It works really well if you don't want to rip out the Cupboards Got sick of the girlfriend asking for her hair dryer back so I bought a heat gun. Long story short got a few extra burns too add to the collection.20 bucks from the green shed, years warranty

New stove fits nicely, have to line the cubboards with some insulation and aluminium checker plate to compensate for the oven it's looks a lot better then the original stove and microwave.

So big long productive day today, I made up an aluminium enclosure for the oven and fully fixed the oven in place. New benchtop installed, and sink has been cleaned and reinstalled. Flooring has been fully installed. It's all finally coming together.

Roof construction has started, using 50x50mm 3mm thick aluminium angle cut. Biggest tip I can give is too stay away from the green shed. They will bend you over with the prices they charge for steel. Riveting them for connection. Running timber along the inside, eventually the pvc skirting will run stapled and sandwitched against laminated ply Here's a look at the unit as a whole.
