This is our much loved and fantastic retro holiday home on wheels; we've had loads of great holidays in her, but our circumstances are changing and, regretfully, we have to sell.
She is a 1979 Majestic, fully registered with Vic Roads until November 2016 (simple to transfer into your name and you can legally tow her home, or go caravanning on the day of purchase) that has been renovated to her current condition.
She has a full kitchen with a 4 hob gas cooker, grill and full oven with a reconditioned Electrolux camping fridge (240V mains and Gas) with freezer that gets cold enough to make ice cubes – all important for those cocktails you’ll be needing to watch the sunset!
There’s plenty of storage space and running (via a pump) hot and cold water that means you have a fully functioning cooking space where you can go full-on MKR when all your camping neighbours will be staring desolately into their cans of baked beans!
The lounge area is a fantastic and large entertaining area where you can seat 6 adults comfortably. The table moves so you can set it up for dinners, games or just for coctails (beer included) and even with the table, there is plenty of room to move around. There are two in-built ‘70’s button upholstered settees with storage underneath, one converts to a double and the other to a child’s single berth. There is 240v lighting throughout the ‘van, but also 12v LED down lights that you can change the colour of to suit your mood, or crank up into a lighting display to match your music. By moving the table there's enough room for a game of Charades, and probably Twister if that's your thing?
In the back is a separate bedroom area with a privacy door and a full size wardrobe with lots of drawers, there’s a comfortable Queen Size bed, dressing table and a wall-mounted LCD screen to plug in your computer and watch movies. There is also an in-built car stereo unit and some large wall mounted speakers. Ther'e also a wall mounted safe to keep your valuables safe whilst you're off out exploring.
All the curtains were made for the van and are double lined with light and UV resistant material. They are great at blocking the heat and light. We also have an air conditioning unit to go with the ‘van. We haven’t fitted it yet, but the plan was to get a bracket made at the back and feed it through to the rear bedroom. To be honest, we haven’t felt it needed aircon as the ‘van didn’t get that hot for us and a simple fan worked well, but the aircon unit is included in the sale.
Be aware that this is not a brand new Caravan and so it's not perfect. My only criticism of the ‘van would be that it has had light rain damage in the past, but she is dry and solid. We had also planned to replace the workbenches with new retro style Formica, the current is fine and serviceable if a little old. The 'van is nearly 30 years old, so the old girl has a few knocks and dents, but nothing major. A big plus is that all the cabinet chipboard doors and drawers have been replaced with water-resistant plywood which is far greater quality, thinner and looks really good.
The ‘van is in a “just hitch up and go” condition and is very sumptuous and comfortable for our family of four; the caravan is easy to prepare for quick weekend breaks. For longer holidays and if you have friends or family coming along, the ‘van comes with a huge canvas annexe. The annexe is about 20’ in length that includes a partition to create another comfortable double sleeping area, or by leaving it open you could fit another 6 people in it comfortably and still have room for a table and chairs!
