Looking at replacing light on outside of van. Prev people have put on a bunker style light that looks terrible. Wanting to go back to traditional style (though will be 12 volt). Not having much success in tracking the right one down. Needs to be 250 diam if poss. Any ideas?
Thanks Gav.

The local van repairer stocked both the glass an the fitting about 3 years ago. Try van repairers up there. The original Franklin fitting (ours anyway) has provision for a 12v globe, but is not wired.

Thanks guys for your replys, I did check with caravans plus they only sell the glass and not the backing plate anymore. Will try the other suggestions. Would like to keep as orig as the paint shows where the old light was.

There's a difference? The parent's Windsor has the same lights inside and out.

Thinking about it, the ones on my parent's '85 windsor are different inside and outside. The inside ones have the switches in the side of the base as Greedy's picture shows, but the outside one has a switch on the wall inside the van, so it probably doesn't have any holes. Also the outside one is 240V only, which means that the pressed aluminium piece that holds the socket for the 12V globe has never been folded up. Otherwise its identical to the internal ones, and the same as shown in Greedy's photos, with a different pattern in the glass.

Just a quick post of the Change over to LED from 12v Fluro/incandescent to LED Sticky Back Panels. The outside I had added a second 12v Lamp, To install I broke the Class from the 12v Incandescent Lamps and Soldered the wires provided with the LED panels into the de-glassed bases see images below. The inside I just Removed the Ballast and crimped Female Spade terminals on to the Caravans 12v Wires I made a 135mm Aluminium plate with 4 Panels stuck and used the Lamps existing holes to screw the Plate/terminal strip into position see images below. My son has also completed a similar exercise except he used 3 LED Panels and stuck them direct to the Lamp base also his lights had switch in the side of the lamp base and used this to prevent 2 panels from illuminating when off grid.
