I picked up this old Viscount van last week On the rego papers, it says it is a 1980 model The chassis number is stamped on (not welded), so it could have a new chassis. The logo on the front The other side I'm guessing 1970, but the paint flash doesn't fit, or were there a wide variety of flashes? Cheers Paul (sorry if I've created a thread that exists. I couldn't find it)

It was fairly common practice for Viscount builders to write dates & chassis numbers on internal components - have look under the table, inside cupboards, behind doors & drawers. My wife's 66 Ambassador has date & chassis number pencilled under the table.
Also check around the fuse box for the certification of electrical compliance date.

As the Viscount does not have Wind-out Windows it will be prior to 1973 probably 1971-1272 , not sure when in 1973 the windows changed so it could even be early 1973, it definitely is not a 1980 model as they have a different cladding profile, search in hidden corners, as captivenut posted above, also Original Appliances and hardware sometime has dates of manufacture, Fridge, Stove, Light Fittings etc, of course this will only tell you that it has been built after that date only.
PS more photo's Please.

Thanks for the tips, I've looked in the sugessted place, but haven't found anything yet. Th gas plate is dated 1980, but was loose in a cupboard, so that means nothing. By the look of the cushion material, it's definitely Flower Power era. Cheers Paul
