Wanted - reasonably priced (was hoping for around $2,000 but might stretch up to $5000 for the perfect van) caravan to use as spare room in our back yard.
Must be watertight (no leaks), in reasonable usable condition, we don't mind tidying up a bit and some minor repairs.
Only needs to be towable to in Tin Can Bay - QUEENSLAND. (so, pref in Nth NSW or Qld please)
Will consider sizes between 18' to 22'. Full top van only, NOT pop-top. Prefer with full size fixed double bed, and a single bed (or lounge that can be used as a single).
No total wrecks or total rebuilds please. We live in residential area, so needs to be presentable, so neighbours don't complain.
So if anyone has a nice large old van they need to get rid of, let us know - you can e-mail details and pics to zephyrzodiac@hotmail.com

A leak free, tidy presentable 18 -> 22foot caravan for $5000 .... Yeah, good luck with that one $2000 is rubbish that will need full restoration. $5000 might by something repairable .......... it will certainly leak and require a dedicated amount of work to make usable. keep your eyes on ebay .... you might find something like this: www.ebay.com.au/itm/Viscount-Caravan-/151850384082?hash=item235afcfad2:g:HU4AAOSwKIpWExomYou will spend many, many hours driving all over state looking at rotten rubbish though, to find that rare gem, that is a caravan worth the effort of towing home. seeya, Shane L.

Thank you for your constructive comments. I did not say I expect a new caravan, just a reasonable usable one. Our neighbor bought one last month to put on their block for $2000, in remarkably good condition, and it has a fly roof, NO leaks - they do exist. There are about 20 good ones listed for sale now, but all in SA, WA and VIC - just too far away to tow a big van that may not be very roadworthy back to Qld. When we weren't looking, I saw several (always the way). The one you have linked to on ebay I did give serious thought to, but it is 23' - just a bit too big for where it needs to go, and still fit the boat behind the fence with it.

you could cut the draw bar off to give you the room on your site.

We haven't included the draw bar in our measurements, as the motor of the boat will go past it and almost touch the caravan.

The trouble is you need to go look at them. There almost always rubbish when you get there, no matter how many questions you ask .... or pictures you look at. It gets really disheartening after a while. Most are staggeringly rotten, and painted inside in an attempt to hide it. You don't even need to look at them ... you just open the door and smell the stink of rotten caravan and turn around and walk away without even bothering to look inside. Anyone with a good caravan that knows is good. Will either not sell it, or ask way above the "average value" for such a thing. Good luck with it either way Who knows, you might be lucky. All the good cars and caravans I see advertised always seem to be in QLD! seeya Shane L.

The grass is always greener syndrome maybe? Patience is a virtue, we will find one.
PS: the first Adelaide one I mentioned was sold in less than a day - so must have been really good - it looked lovely. Just wish it wasn't 2,200klm away to look!

We found a van - OK, it is only 17', but meets ALL our requirements, so are over the moon with it. And only the 4th van we enquired about.
We bought it sight unseen, as knew it would otherwise get sold before we could get to see it, but then had a friend go put $50 deposit to hold it, and he confirmed it was good. We were very lucky the people who owned it were very truthful about everything and told me everything that was wrong/right with it, and it is exactly as she described.
We are now the proud owners of a 1979 Viscount Supreme Deluxe. Well within our budget. No leaks, only a few things to fix up (that she told us about), but usable how it is. (We had to go to Brisbane for Christmas Party, so instead of dragging our Kennedy down, and doing 2 trips to take the Viscount home, we just packed the car, and moved into the Viscount for the weekend!)
So for anyone out there looking, just be patient and they do turn up. I must admit it was sheer luck that I clicked on Gumtree when I did, she said I was first caller and she had only listed it 10 minutes before!
Thanks.

Apparently, one of the previous owners had in a shed for 20 years, but has been used a bit - not perfect, but still in great condition for age. Definitely doesn't need renovating, just some minor stuff. The floor and chassis are perfect, need about 10 new door catches, and the back window sill needs a new one made for the inside, and might need a new back window, as there is a kink in it - will check it all out properly when we get home, and the curtain pelmets and rails a tidy up. All easy stuff.
Some of the cupboards have had sticky tape removed and peeled the surface off - is it easy to take the cupboard doors apart and flip the panel around so the inside (which is perfect) is on the outside?

No. We are at the Samford Showgrounds.
Hey does anyone know how to light the oven in these? The 4 burners work fine but don't know how to light the oven or if it is not working?
It is the oven with oven above and griller below it and there is what looks like a peizo button in middle of gas knobs but it doesnt do anything.
Thanks.

Have you tried lighting with a gas match?
