Permanant caravans in van parks will need to be kept roadworthy and must be able to be moved within 24 hours if required. All onsite vans will need to meet the States building code if they can't be moved within that time...
Absolute madness....
Doesn't look like I'll be including WA in my travels any time soon...

I haven't listened to the broadcast so not sure what they have said but from what I know it is nothing different to NSW caravan parks - or use to be. When a teenager I lived in a van park for 9 months give or take and all the on site vans have to have there tyres inflated and on the ground but the van would be on blocks of timber. The reason for this was the van park was surrounded by a river that would flood - mostly nothing that needed them to move any vans but I'm sure there have been a time a big one would have gone through and they would be pulling 50 - 100 vans to higher ground. I notice in the above posts they said "roadworthy" not "registered" wonder who will have to do the inspections ??

It's not just caravan parks Lockyer it's just about everything to do with all aspects of caravan & camping you'll need a permit to free camp anywhere by the sounds & if it's on private property the owner is responsible to get this permit with local governments approval after inspection Also one thing that really annoys me is if you have a family member in WA & you want to travel with your van & stay there for a prolonged period it's illegal to do so without a permit & to my understanding it will only be issued for 72hrs, but the funny thing is the reason given is they haven't got a toilet to use or a water source. I've never been to WA but I thought the majority would have there own toilet & water source!!
All I can say is it's all about revenue raising for the government yet again

Well don't visit any family here in Queensland, because you are not allow to live/stay in a caravan on private property here either unless you have a permit, and most of the councils only issue them if your building a house and they are set at 6 months but you can apply for an extension. Now this is not to say people don't visit family and friends and park there vans behind a shed or house for a few days or a week but if you had a nosey neighbour they will move you on
You would most likely find all the states/local councils will have a similar law, but most will turn a blind if no-one says anything

99% of councils only ever do something if there is a complaint from another resident or a mod of a forum ha ha ha

Mustang is fine as no-one is staying in those caravans ..... I've had 3 caravans, 3trailers a boat and aobut 20cars in my yard. I don't think there is anything the council can do about it. seeya, Shane L.

Geeez I would be in trouble if the council stopped me from sleeping in the caravan.
Gotta have somewhere to go when the wife kicks me out..
