Hi Everyone, My wife and I have been restoring everything from cars and furniture since we have been together. So due to now having kids we thought the best new project would be a Caravan. We found a van we liked the shape of and handed over the cash. Now here is our issue, it doesnt have a Vin on the A frame or any markings on the inside as everything has been badly painted over. If anyone could help us identify her that would be great. The good news since getting her home we have found that she has no leaks and interior electrics are sound (We wont be running gas). So very happy and excited to start the project. We would like to post more about our progress along the way. But if someone could please help us know her heritage as we would like to bring her back to as close to original as possible. The windows have LO Baker and son which makes me think she is a Litecraft, but I can not find any the same shape. She has a timber frame (screws not rivots) 13ft long and wears a premier badge on the door. We really want to get her as close to original as possible so please all information is welcome. Thanks

Welcome to the world of old vans. Your restoring values are about to all be used up in one foul swoop!!! Our member Hugh will most likley be able to identify your brand. If there is a welded number on the drawbar please post that as well along with some interior shots.

Hi new banners, Having another look at this one makes me think it could be a Chesney, are there any marks anywhere that could confirm this? Is the back window a double opening central one or does it go to each side?

It does have the Double opening rear window and like you said on the original thread it is Silver under the white. I have looked at the Chesney's since you mentioned it and you may be correct. A lot of the little finishings are similar to ones I have seen. The number on the drawbar wasnt present but i have stripped back some paint and I think someone has tried to shave the numbers off. From what I can see the numbers are 90481 but hard to be 100% sure. Anyone know if these could Match?

Probably won't find anyone that will know the numbering system, but could that"D" have possibly been a C?

I have had another look at the number and I am not sure about the C or D but the 0 in the vin seems to be a 6, so now guessing 96841 (or C/D). I have looked through other attached forums and the Vin # could mean built september 68 (968). Also the table leg is different to other models I have seen But I found a pic of a chesney with the identical leg. Would love to find an orinal pic of the same year and model to confirm but I think you were on the money.

Gidday Newvanners
Welcome aboard, always a challenge when you find something like this with lots of paint to make it look 'pretty' Hughdeani is our wizard and he lives on the Vintage Forum too.
Some people have found manufacturing dates on the underside of draws and inside cupboards
Good luck. Do Keep us up to date with your progress
