Perhaps another option can be using artists paints suitable for murals and other exterior applications and applying it using the Preval spray ARTISTS ACRYLIC PAINT

Hi Gitano. Yes that would be an option too. I reckon i will mask up for the lines and give it a go with the spray pack. The colour is perfect. Satin Teal.

I just received a phone call from Vipond, they said that their Acrylic Gloss can be painted over Solargard and also they can mix any commercial color provided. They just need the name of the color, that it is all. One liter cost about $35.00

That sounds like a good deal Gitano. Ive got semi gloss as it should hide any imperfections. Not brave enough for gloss, lol

I would strongly advise doing a test patch on a scrap piece of aluminium first. Then leave it in the sun.
I recently went through a similar problem with a car part I was restoring. Every time I tried to paint it the final coat reacted and caused it all to wrinkle up. It was a fairly delicate part so I had to sand it by hand. I hand sanded every scrap of paint off it four times before I finally managed to get a decent finish on it!

The old and the new. The spray pack paint seemed to go on....and stay on

Looks nice mate, I just painted the strip in orange to match the interior original decor and color used by Franklin on this van.

Much better look than that burgandy/ maroonish stripe! Acrylic over acrylic will be a success every time

The paint job looks great. You must be stoked. Needing to replace my outside light( bunker style when bought) but would like the oyster style but convert to 12 volt if poss. Any suggestions.

Here is my set up for the oyster light. Will keep the 240v set up and stick these 2 LEDs either side of the 240v socket (has self adhesive tape on them ). Got this idea from another forum member. You can buy oyster light from Caravans Plus online. Connected both to my battery earlier just to try, and seemed to be bright enough.

Did you already have 12 volt to your outside light or did you put in new wires and switch? Also the 12 volt wires seem so thin. Looking thru your prev posts seems our wives have similar tastes in colour.

I was thinking about all new 12v wires, if i was to go further on mine, but soon realised that the original wire has a lot of copper, just lacking on the chunky insulation of todays cable.

I wonder if they will be good for the inside lights as well. I have just removed one of my 12v inside globes and they DO NOT have off set lugs which the LEDs above do have, this is in my Millard PT. Will have to find one's where the locating lugs are opposite with 2 contacts.
Edit, I have found out that the "BA15D" means it has 2 contacts on the bottom, and with LED's you need to know which is + and which is - or the globe will not work. The "1142" is the connection lugs it means they are parallel not offset, so if the globe does not work when you install just remove and turn 180deg and re- install. I have ordered 4 x LED BA15D 1142 from the states = $27.00AU incl postage.

Bugger !!!!! Hey Lockyer, thanks for the LED info. Just realized that I've ordered offset lug type...I need 1142.. Lol, oh well a massive $6 down the drain. Lockyer, would you have a link to the ones that you bought ? Im abit unsure of the power output. They're gonna be used in the interior lights inside the van., What lumen should I be chasing ?

Ever heard the saying
Blind leading the blind...I have no idea, I just go for bigger numbers..I saw something that said 270 -300 = 20/21w
Rattles you up to date on this stuff
