We have a rule on the forum that we don't talk about prices or values, as bobandjacqui have pointed out there is not a lot around but there is plenty of information on them, on the net. So if I were you I would be researching anything I could find out about them and then contact the owner for inspection and negotiations.

You will know how much to offer when you see it. Photos never relise the truth.
Its all a matter of how brash you want to be, we Australians have a lot to learn about bartering, me included.
The last house I bought, I showed up with a clipboard with sub-headings, I jotted down everything that needed doing, subtracted that off the price, gave a copy to the real estate with my offer & they accepted, I showed no emotion all.
When I bought Vincent I broke every rule in the book!!!!!!!

OK so gumtree shows a bigger one in Vic wishing for big buck$$ Vintage Olympic Stardust Van What it sold for is anyones guess. After rebuilding my van 20K isn't big money. Yes the condition counts and how long since the rebuild as well. Mine cost me 25K in parts. no labour except for the electrician. So if that van is in good condition it's a decent price. There are no free lunches now a days gentlemen. The days of real cheap vans is fast passing. As for what any van is worth. I'm with Bob, whatever you are willing to pay for it. Once you've bought it there is no point worrying about if it was too dear or not. It is unlikely you are going to make money at doing one of these up unless you cut corners and get the body for next to nothing. That's why you see so many caravan builders go bust. It's a tough market. Cheers Atog PS 8fters. this post isn't aimed at you just stating an opinion. Please don't be offended if it sounds brash.

Cheers Atog, i know exactly where you are comming from and when you look around here i do not push the ït should be cheaper than new price bandwaggon. Maybe we should have a topic or host it off site somewhere about prices, if it is against the rules here. The main reason i can see the rule is to not heat up the market. BUT even unrestored as vans become more scarce the value goes up, my 16ft Franklin was a good exampla as they sat around $1500 unregistered needs work when i was thinking about it the $2500 by the time i bought ( eBa-y so a fair bid price) since then most want to start these at $4K!! Folks need to remember that when buying [parts and even more so at retail prices just like a $30,000 car that if you built from new spares would be closer to $300,000 also applies to our conveyances. The other factor being unpaid time to get a restoration done. I saw a great 1969 Viscount restored 20foter with an asking price of $21,000 compared to a new similar equiped van that would be $100,000 upwards to $200,000 we can only put our hand in pocket & pay that opwner restorer what they wanted as even then he will be taking a loss if time was fairly worked into the end result.

By the time we finish our Olympic, the cost minus labour will be around $20,000, so that 21 footer is a good deal possibly.
