While drooling over the Performax Chevy /Ford stand at the show, a conversation started with a non pesky salesman. He asks the question , how many RV smakers are operating in Aus, we (full of knowledge) came up with 40? 50? this must have been his opener to get your mind off the price of his lovely toys?....answer 92, seems a lot. In my town of Caloundra there are 3 caravan makers & umpteen trailer camper makers, many more just on the Sunshine Coast.

Well I have enjoyed a lovely cooked breaky and was doing some web surfing and decided to have a look at who building what in the RV game. And I came across some really interesting(to me anyway) stuff, the RVMAA badge that a lot of our vans have, was or is a peak body for the manufactures of RV's but back in 2011ish a major caravan and camper trailer manufacturer(starts with J) and the RVMAA parted ways. Now that company is claimed to control sales of approx. 50% of vans and trailers in Oz. So how is it or why is it, that this large company no longer is involved with the peak body ??
Well I found this new body that started mid 2014 called the CIAA or Caravan Industry Association of Australia, and guess who is a member and it is interesting to read who and what they stand for but it has nothing to do with safety regs or building codes...

You will find that the big J left the CIA because they charged something like $15. Per van built by all manufacturers and did absolutely nothing except give you a badge to put on the van! They also purport to help people that have bought a "lemon" caravan, and believe me there are a lot,but when push comes to shove they did nothing, ever, anywhere! Which is why there are so many Cowboys and "fflybynighters" building caravans without any thought to quality or safety . So In my opinion, and I agree with J,you get nothing for your money. You will find at caravan shows this stand is unmanned due to many members of the caravanning public wanting to have a go at them! Rant over. Cheers hughdeani

CIA or RVMAA ?? I'm guessing you mean the later, which becomes very understandable.
It is interesting, knowing who is doing what to whom lol Thanks Hugh
