Hi Guys, Wendy (woowoo) has set up a facebook page for classic caravans. Lockyer will be the administrator. Note, Classic Caravans are caravans manufactured between 1/1/70 and 31/12/79. We are not interested in managing a forum or facebook page for 1980's and onwards manufactured caravans. However, commensense must prevail. If a certain model of Caravan was manufactured in June 1979, and the same design/model ran through to March 1984, then those 1980's caravans qualify, simply because they were designed in the 1970's. Same with vintage caravans, any caravan manufactured in June 1969 and ran to March 1974, these 1970's caravans qualify as vintage caravans. I hope this is clear as mud Mark

OK feel free to post comments or add to the Facebook Page
I am on the look out for photo's of your Classic Caravan for the cover of the page would like to up date the cover each month with a new photo of a members van.
The issue will be your photo cannot be to close to the van as when it loads you lose approx. 20-30% of the surround of the pic, so please keep this in mind when offering a photo. Just place a link in this thread and I can do the rest, please enjoy.
One more thing if there are any "pages" you thing we should like lets us know and as long as the other page returns the favour.
Cheers L

Also, at great expense to the management, I've increased the storage space for attachments, would someone please PM me on the V V forum if storage space again runs short. And don't forget, if we can get a committment for the sale of at least 50 classic caravan bumper stickers at $5 a shot, I'll get printing underway Mark

Speaking about FB caravan sites i do enjoy the Fix It or Renovate That Caravan one (closed group like most to stop spam but fast entry if bona fide human) . While a general caravan age site, it does seem that the next generation of Classic age rejiggers feature a lot. Most are re purposed in line with current thoughts, much in the same way houses are ripped bare of original features and made "livable" with neutral colours and kitchen bathrooms made new :)Repainting also a must do as heaven forbid any old fashioned stripes give the wrong vibe to onlookers haha. Activity is impressive with 10-20 replys to most posts within 24 hours.

yep busy page that one, and yes most posts are about ripping out most of the original features and making them more 'current'. But on the other hand most people will still mention how these old vans have bagloads more character than those big white boxes!
There is also a viscount owners page too that is pretty active!

There needs to be a catchy name applied to the practice, like hot rodding for cars, example... "I love my EH Holden they are so classic and wonderful... so i put in Mc Pherson struts 4 wheel disck brakes and a 308 Chev motor with a computer out of something to control the fule & timing smarts, replace the seats with recaro buckets all round and sprayed the exterior with acrylic colour with 22 gloss coats! While now an awesome car that will go around corners and stop well", not really much classic EH about it anymore.

and here is me replacing my LED lights with period look lenses and normal globes lol My modern look LED were made easy by two reasons. Driving unregistered 800+ klm and wanting to look ready for rego. In days gone by i have almost run up the back of many caravans so wanted the best night glow, bad wather spray here i am look possible! The bonus is the oversize ones hide the two other light shapes , sillycone , holes and scratches. I just need to get some large chrome spinning with blue Led circular glow hubcaps and do a painted white box shine with computer cut swoosh decals now!
