Hi Everyone, I am a newbie to the forum and a newbie to caravan ownership as well Yay! I was wondering if anyone can help identify my new van, it found me and I am so excited for it to arrive (my husband is not so excited lol). There is a fair bit of work to do, and I can't wait. I was told it is a seventies Viscount, however from the limited reasearch I have done on this fantastic forum, I am thinking it is mid to late 60's Viscount Valiant. B2951 Photo won't load will have to fiddle when I have time, any ideas from the number? Thanks in advance

Gidday roaminaround,
Welcome aboard and congratulations on mastering the photo thing on your second posting.
Now please can you give a front shot and the chassis number. See ya done that already. I don't think I can help but I am sure one of our in house wizards will be able to.

Roaminaround, Looks like "Herbie" may be an earlier 1960's valiant -'64 / '65 perhaps About this time takeaway shops became more popular and they began making the doors wider in later models Mine is numbered B358 and was manufactured in 1963 - possibly after lunch one Friday afternoon, September 13th perhaps vintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/11949/galah-63-64-valiant-vanThey then changed the cladding style and to sloping windows (looks like they are going faster). Aluminium framed or timber ? Cheers Murray

Hi Murray, Thanks for the info, love your van!And your awning! I hope i can get Herbie looking that good one day and get out on the open road. I'm not sure about the frame as I bought him on the spur of the moment from an online ad and am picking him up tomorrow, fingers crossed all goes well. Will let you know, I would love to narrow down the year that he was made, hope it wasn't a monday morning lol I am beginning to think you are right after looking at the information in the links bobt posted. It looks like Herbie might be a'65 model. It seems that a lot of people have purchased a 70's caravan only to find out it is earlier......I am thrilled!
